Most all of the DMT teks out there involve the use of sodium hydroxide, usually in the form of Red Devil Lye. However, most of the teks out there are a few years old and after a little research ive found that Red Devil was taken off of most shelves years ago. Not only that, but the purchasing of most any sodium hydroxide contaning agent is monitored due to its use in the production of meth. That being said, what are most people using nowadays for the basification step in most teks? Are there other products out there? Has anyone ordered it online? Any input would be appreciated. have you looked in the True Value hardware store franchise? It was sitting on the plumbing shelf when I checked out my local TV store.

You can still pick up lye in many stores as drain cleaner. If you still can't find it, there's a plethora of available vendors selling lye online. Google will help you there. It's best not to directly list vendors, it doesn't do us any favors.

So, would most of you say it is safe to use online vendors for sodium hydroxide? SWIM is very wary about ordering lye into the US. SWIM just doesn't want to be on a watch list

Soap makers of the past (and some from the contemporary times) made lye out of wood ashes. Practically this is potassium hydroxide (KOH) and not sodium hydroxide (NaOH), but potassium hydroxide is as good as sodium hydroxide. SWIM has never made lye out of wood ashes, but it is a good thing to know. SWIM knows that if done properly it can give someone a really strong lye solution. Bumping this discussion as it appears that NaOH is becoming harder and harder to come by in hardware stores all over, a friend checked 6 stores in 3 states to no avail sadly. Would ordering lye online draw attention as a meth lab? I love DMT but I'd rather not end up in jail for it. Happiness and peace. Those are really the prime issues in human existence. Well then, it's a good thing the teks are rapidly moving away from using away from using NaOH at all.
Both drytek or FASA can use sodium carbonate or calcium hydroxide.
