Hello everybody.

I first read about DMT a few years ago & was interested in trying it to see if I could learn anything about the nature of reality, until I was warned off by a friend who told me: "You get some when you're born, & when you die, & you shouldn't be messing with it". I stopped thinking about it for a while.

It's worth mentioning that I've had substance abuse issues in the past with alcohol being my primary drug of choice, although I've been sober for over 8 years now. I do still use cannabis regularly, but my days of getting out of my head just to be out of my head are over - that kind of thing simply doesn't work for me anymore (if indeed it ever truly "worked"Pleased. I'm not inexperienced when it comes to psychedelics, but I wouldn't say I'm a veteran, just acid & 'shrooms. Some of the acid was done recently (last 3 years or so, & definitely with a healthier agenda than in my youth).

Through introspection, I have found that, as the years have rolled by, I'm finding things out about myself that I do not like, at all. Of course, there are a few things that I do like about myself, & I mean a few.

During the last 3 - 5 years I've been researching consciousness, as much as a layman can, & I've dabbled with a couple of spiritual practices, mainly meditation, reading & trying to absorb The Tao, & my old childhood stalwart Christianity.

I currently feel that I've fallen into a rut & I'm looking to The Spice to perhaps give me some assistance in my present life situation, which would, hopefully, make life more bearable for me & my loved ones whom I affect so terribly sometimes.

How I think The Spice may do this I don't really know. I think I'm looking for communion with a Higher Power, or insight into the bigger picture, really I don't know.

I hope this doesn't come across as overly depressing, because it's not, it's two or three major issues as I see it, but do I really see everything that's going on? I expect not.

I'm also involved with a group of people who are interested in consciousness & its many offshoots & really it's this group which has rekindled my research & interest in DMT & its possible beneficial/healing properties.

Sorry to have waffled, please feel free to ask any questions you like of me.
It's good to be here.

Pip

I see that in the 'Reasons NOT to do DMT' it says I may get more questions than answers.
I'm going to hope that I get some better questions - working from the principle "ask a stupid question, get a stupid answer". Smile

Hello misterpip,

Welcome to the Nexus. That was a very enjoyable Introduction Essay for me to read. Thank you for sharing.

I want to offer you a hearty CONGRATULATIONS on eight years of alcohol sobriety. It is not easy. My father, who is 76 years old now, never has been able to, so I say more power to you and keep it up! You sound so insightful in saying that you are done with getting out of your head just to be out of your head.

I did not find your quest at all depressing. It reminded me much of what originally brought me here. It seems it's what brings many of us middle agers here. I don't know your age, but you sound like your quest is similar.

I think many of us Nexians have come to find that DMT frequently gives us what we need rather than what we want. This has been very true in my case and progression of working with this entheo. I'm continually surprised and frequently gobsmacked by what the spice shows me. I'm amazed what kind of growth results months after my infrequent rough rides.

So, I do hope you find what you are looking for. I encourage all to think of the spice as a catalyst. The answers are to be found within.

I'm glad to see that you dove right in to participating here. Please keep it up - it gives a good chance to get a sense of who you are which is what this Welcome Area is all about. Smile

Again, welcome to the Nexus.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

I would also agree with Pandora, Mister Pip, your story to me was more positive and inspiring rather than depressive!

Another coincidence lol, I also read this yesterday and it did struck a chord inside me. As a naturally curious person I am worried I may be left thirsting for knowledge after getting a taster. I guess theres only 1 way to find out Very happy

Welcome to the Nexus!!

Congratulations on the 8 years! I have gone through similar struggles with heroin. I have been off for 3 years now. I feel that psychedelics helped me integrate what I went through during that phase and use it for good.

Maybe you will get something out of the spice. I sure hope so!

Anyways, welcome to the Nexus again. I always like to see people in recovery here!

Yes, I am middle aged, although sometimes I feel waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy older, hehe.

Calvera man, I think there are too many coincidences for this to be coincidence.
I have a very good feeling about the Nexus!

Seeking a higher truth has always been my objective, and the more I read the more I understand the mysteries and confusions I had before. I just understood how dmt gives to each what he trully needs.

Haha. I don't believe in coincidence either Very happy

So far, welcoming, informative & interesting. I like it, very much. How about you?
When (if?) I gather some courage, I may ask some questions (providing the search function doesn't give me an answer, which it has done so far) & I managed to get a couple of half decent pics of a friend's recent experiment, which I think we'd like some feedback on.
