If you have a repice that always work, what is it!!?
Additionally, if you know recipes and/or variant that either doesn't work or make the brew much less potent, what are they?
After all, what is necessary and what isn't when preparing an ayahuasca brew?
Edit: Please give as much details as you can! How long do you brew? How much water and vinegar if any? ...

This is a list found on the internet: Quote:* have a trusted source for materials, duds are sometimes weak material especially when it comes to chacruna. * more water per batch (min factor 20 material/water, 100 gr vine --> min 2 liter) * more washes (some do 1, better is 3 = standard) * water acid pH 4 - 5 (typical = vinegar) * longer boils (3 x 10 hours) * dedicated intention toward brew (prayer, mapacho, incense,...) * simmer against boiling point (heat extract better) * finer fibers of wood (easier for actives to get into water) * fasting, not extreme but still fairly empty belly; * no contraindicated substances, follow the aya diet; * mental preparation days in advance, opening yourself to receive "whatever", giving in; * have some questions for "her" and ask the brew in advance, leaving open what comes of it. * At drinking: mind set and setting. * Choose calm people around you, no fuck*d up minds, even when brewing; * make it a spiritual thing all together but stay grounded anyway; * see it as a visit to a very "special doctor" treatment.

i just throw a kilo or two in a giant cauldron, with spring water, and do 3x3hour boils (sometimes 4 boils. these brews even over 9 hours do seem to be stronger, but its hard to tell for sure since caapi varies in potency so much as it is..) i dont use an acid. theres not really any point. there isn't a noticeable change in potency and it just makes the brew taste horrible for mimosa/chali/chacruna you can just do the same thing, except with 30min boils instead of 3 hours read this thread https://www.dmt-nexus.me...aspx?g=posts&t=8972
good luck :]

always works for me but recipes are personal and subjective. Better to find your own. When in doubt use some rue. Long live the unwoke.

I did the standard, 3X3 hour boilings in excess water, no acid, then reduce to a drinkable amount. I agree with jamie, when in doubt, use some rue. Syrian rue always works for me, caapi vine was more fickle (or maybe just more variable in potency, or responsive to how respectfully I approached it?). With rue, I found a noticeable difference between using 3.5 and 5 grams (though 5 grams is too much for some people, best to titrate your personal dose). More consistent results were had with Mimosa than Chacruna or Chaliponga, though the taste of Mimosa... still gives me shudders.
And as Jees said, even if the brew is a no-show mentally, it is still working on you in other ways. I think us westerners can get hung up on the idea that Aya is supposed to be this crazy mind-altering psychedelic trip. It can be that way, but that is just one aspect of the medicine. Sometimes it might just work to cleanse your body. If you don't get much of a mental effect, it doesn't mean the brew is a dud.

Thanks for the replies Edit: Does filtering through a t-shirt reduce potency? Also, how frequently, if at all, is it necessary to stir the brew? Should the final result be a liquid only brew or a liquid with some sediment brew? One odd thing is that for the same batch of material, I sometimes had potent brews, and at other times just about nothing.

For Syrian Rue, I've read multiple preparations (one suggestion was to merely powderize the seeds and insert the powder into capsules). Does anyone have a working, recommended strategy for preparing Syrian Rue? "The infinite vibratory levels, the dimensions of interconnectedness are without end." -- Alex Grey

Don't ingest powdered rue seeds, unless your fond of vomiting! I usually gently simmer the seeds for 30-45 minutes in water, then drink the tea. The alkaloids are mostly in the seed coat and quite water soluble, there is no need to grind the seeds. It has always worked well this way. Extraction to get purified harmala salts or freebase is also very easy to do, though the crude decoction has a better medicinal action (for instance, antiparasitic) due to some of the other compounds in the seeds.
