then would the dmt freeze with the water in the naphtha or would the water freeze by itself and the dmt crystallize?

heh? cant understand your question..

dmt has many different forms. In an acidic environment (so for example in water with vinegar, which is acetic acid), it will take up the ions from the acid and become a salt form of dmt (in this case, dmt acetate), which is water soluble.

BUT, when you raise the pH with lye, for example, the dmt becomes a freebase, which is NOT water soluble, but it IS soluble in naphtha. so this means once you mix the naphtha with the high-pH mix, the dmt will 'move' to the naphtha.. so when you separate the naphtha from the rest, it will have the dmt..

So then you evaporate the naphtha (no water anymore) all the way, or evaporate almost all the way and then stick in the fridge, then the dmt will crystalize inside the naphtha. Has nothing to do with water, there should be no water in the freezer.

sorry, allow me to be more clear...i have the dmt/naphtha solution in the freezer and i believe some water (which froze to ice) may have found it's way into the solution so would there be dmt in that ice?

not really, dmt freebase is nearly insoluble in water, it will prefer the non-polar naphtha, so even if there was some theoretical dmt in the ice, it would be very very very little..

Not so quick there. You’re forgetting an important detail in his question.

You cannot freeze precipitate freebase DMT in ice cold water otherwise people wouldn't use naphtha would they! That means it’s soluble in ice cold water doesn’t it.

You can freeze precipitate freebase DMT in naphtha, but not water.

By freezing the mixed solution of naphtha and water, the DMT would precipitate out of the naphtha and become part of the frozen ice because DMT is insoluble in ice cold naphtha but still somewhat soluble in ice cold water.

You get it.

At room temperature, DMT is more soluble in naphtha than water, but at near freezing, it’s the other way around.

People have tried precipitating DMT in ice cold water. It doesn't work. If it did, everyone would be doing it and no one would use naphtha.

is there anyway to remove the water? like if i warmed the solution up i'm assuming the dmt would redissolve into the naphtha and then i could just pipette the water out would this work?
ok i think you may have just answered my question, thanks?

let's say i filter with the ice particles, after removing the naphtha will letting the water dry out leave me with whatever dmt may have been frozen with it?

but he's not freeze precipitating dmt in water.. he has a naphtha pull with a couple of drops of water, from what I understood.. Plus we're not talking about 'cold water', we're talking about frozen water.. how much dmt can it hold...

this happened with SWIM once and all he did was forget the water was there, scrape the crystals from his container, pour through vacuum filter and collect them.. the drops of water melted and were filtered and the yield was perfect.. (it was not lye water, btw, it was just some condensation drops.. if its water with lye I would clean it).

but yes if you can, just suck it up with pipette
