ive been experimenting with recrystalization and growing some really nice white fluffy snowflakes lately, and they are beautiful!!! ive tried naptha and bestine as my solvents, and bestine seems to work better for me. im really trying to grow nice clear shardy crystals, you know, the ones that look similar to quartz!! is there any specific tricks to get clear crystal formation?? maybe size and shape of precipitation container, or a specific room temperature to let the crystals grow in?? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i think i got it!!! my avatar picture is the precursor spice, already 2x rex, and this new pic is what is still currently growing in a tiny precip jar!!

Pretty looking crystals, that looks a bit like a mycelium liquid culture

I'm also interested in growing large crystals, for purely asthetic reasons, and I find it fun.
How did you get them to that point? What temperature and how long, etc

thanks!! i thought this one looked like a lotus flower!! as i took that picture the floating crystal grew just enough to sink, it was the perfect moment for that photo!! anyways, ive never made a tek, but ill try to give simple instructions.

i like to do 1 or 2 recrystalizations on crude spice with naptha as my solvent, and then 2 more rex's with bestine. the cleaner/purer the crude spice was to start with will affect the color, clarity, and shape of the final product.

1. dissolve spice in hot solvent (minimal solvent needed to dissolve spice, just hot enough to dissolve spice and not the goo, if the goo dissolves youll just have to further refine it as some will separate but some will contaminate the recrystalized spice))

2. let saturated solvent slowly cool, walk away for about 10 minutes 2a. you should notice a sunken layer of goo, and the top layer of cloudy solvent when you come back)

3. carefully remove top cloudy solvent layer directly into precipitation container and leave oils/goo in the container for future pulls (the goo is still active, and i seem to be able to do quite a few pulls off of it, you should notice a color and viscosity difference after multiple pulls)

4. tightly cover precip container and leave at a cool room temp for at least a day (maybe even longer is better)

5. loosen/poke holes in lid of precip container to allow slow evaporation, to slow evap down even more put it in the fridge (i avoid the freezer as it speeds up crystalization, and the point of rex is to grow the crystals slowly)

6. just keep sloooowly evaporating, the slower the better. (did i mention evaporate slowly?) eventually all the solvent will evaporate and you will have nice clean crystals, but you could always recrystalize them over and over until you get a super pure solid chunky crystal!!

the only way i ever succeeded getting the clear crystals as shown was to do a 5th rex on 1 gram of super clean white shiny crystals with 7-10ml of barely hot bestine.

What method did you use to heat your solvent before the dissolve?

just a hot water bath, as thats the only safe way i know of to heat flammable solvents!! never heat solvents over an open flame, or in my opinion dont even bring solvents near any heat source besides hot water in a bowl!!!!
