there is actually a receptor in your brain that causes agitation which can be stimulated, i dont have the precise details in front of my but its not a case of proper mind set problem some plants will just stimulate that part of the brain and there is nothing to do.

try something a little more indica, but she is just one of those people, wrong combination of plant and person, a new plant will probably solve the problem.

have a single 15mg valium nearby in case she has a panic attack, otherwise dont worry about it she will be fine.

as for where to post this, the faq (where it is now) or welcome discussion is fine.

otherwise welcome here.

It could simply be that combination, I remember the first few times I smoked weed, first two times was regular mids, didn't really feel all that high but had the munchies and laughed a lot. The 3rd time I ever smoked, I smoked Mango Kush out of a bong with ice water, after about 15 minutes I passed out for another 15 minutes, woke up, couldn't remember my name, was so high I could barely stand, couldn't figure out how to speak, basically I just sat there and looked around the room for a little bit stoned out of my mind, after standing up and walking around a bit I sobered up some...

It could be because her body isn't used to being high yet, and because she smoked such a potent strain, it was just too much for her brain to comprehend, so she panicked. If she wants to continue smoking weed I suggest she stays away from the more potent strains until she's more experienced with the regular mid grade weed. anonenium's suggestion for trying an indica strain could also work too.
A dramatic shift approaches...

This is quite a vague claim. If you could provide any references or pointers it would be appreciated, so we know what you mean.

And this is more than vague. Which plants? Which part of the brain? Why there's nothing we can do?

We're all wired differently. Some people should be careful to not go overboard. I know that I won't just pass out if I smoke too much, rather I'll get uncomfortable and agitated.
I'm ok if I don't smoke too quickly or too much, we shouldn't always try to "keep up" with the rest of the group.

Some people shouldn't smoke at all either. If it always triggers negativity, then cannabis isn't for you. There seems to be some evidence found that a small percentage of people have THC flood a part of their brain with dopamine similarly to what happens with schizophrenia. I don't see this as damning to marijuana as it's a small segment of the population, and it's very easy to just not smoke.

i was recalling a study i read a few years ago linking different forms of stimulus reactions, i cant find it but this is roughly how it went.

in a minority of people there is a hardwiring between the hunger reflex and the anxiety reflex, (when a person is hungry they get agitated), this can in turn cause any hunger causing chemical or stimulus to also cause irritability, while on the flip of a coin a diuretic can be used as a anti anxiety medication in the same population, this also means that in theory a person who is like this could be lulled into felling less hungry by having there agitation soothed.

the basic jest of what i said before was that a plant with more indica traits (couldnt think of the name of the chemical before but it was mentioned above CBD) would counteract this effect to a degree.

sorry for being vague i was trying to piece together old memories and form a coherent sentence, wasnt doing a very good job, and since i cant provide sources im still not doing a very good job, but that was the memory i was basing what i said off of.

get a new plant that is a bit more indica she will be fine and please tell here that anyone who says "if you are uncomfortable with weed you have deep mental illness" most likely already does have mental issues and is trying to use this plant not only as a bandaid, but also as a justification for their own sanity, because rest assured i have a known people who have had horrible lives and they have smoked like its their form of oxygen, you cant make sweeping judgment off one event just like you cant judge people.

makes some smores before the next doobie doo and she will be so interested in eatting them she will have no time to be paranoid.

Hello all

The questions would be basically Why does my girlfriend react paranoid to weed?

My question is: Could there be any health issues that she has that could cause this? Should any action be taken? I mean could weed reveal some deep illness in her that we simply did not see before? Or was this a typicall bad tripp?

Besides answers, any tipps are welcome, i was never in a situation like this, she is my first gf and we are together for almost one year now. I am 21 and she is 19..

Well it is no indication of mental problems!

Most of my friends (me included) stopped smoking weed because of the mental side-effects. I quieted when I was 19 years old. In the beginning I am relaxed and having fun, but at one moment I get an overflow of info and I get hyper-conscious of everything and I feel uncomfortable with that. Every time I smoked it since my 18th I felt uncomfortable and a bit paranoia. Before I was a regular smoker, but the effect changed. I never saw it as a problem. Other friends have the same story. At the same time I have friends who still smoke daily.

It is said that the level of CBD is important. And the levels of cbd were dropping in the region I am living.

If she wants to smoke still. You should smoke a couple of times with her in a more intimate setting. So you can give her a feeling of safety in the experience. You can make her feel at ease. After a couple of good experiences with you she can learn how to handle with herself at a moment paranoid thoughts comes up.

You do not have to see alike, feel alike or even think alike in order spiritually to be alike

The first time I got really really stoned I lost my cool. Totally flipped. I made a pbj sandwich because I was hungry and realized there was no way in hell I could eat the thing. I sat on the couch and realized I couldnt move and when I told my friend he laughed and said "dude your stoned". I thought that in that miment I had discovered the true meaning of being stoned was to not be able to move like a stone. I thought I would be like that forever and that it had been my buddies plan all along to stone me....forever.... I heard my mom pull up and boy did I move then, only there was no hiding it so I fessed up. After a few hours I was fine but still shaken.

I still get a bit paranoid sometimes but I like to smoke so I have found a few tricks to minimize it.

First off I only take in a small hit at first, let it kick in, then wait until Ive adjusted to the way I feel before I take more, about half an hour to an hour. If I chief a lot in one sitting without a little in my system Im sure to wig out.

Finding ideal strains helps. Some strains are just so cerebral they give me a certain level of paranoia.

Set and setting of course play a big role. I like to smoke with people who are chill.

Being somewere I dont have to worry about being interupted, which is home for me mainly or a close friends.

Honestly though the first tip works best for me, if I take it in a little at a time I find that after a bit I can smoke freely and get quite high with minimal paranoia, I just have to avoid the sudden rush from sober toSurprised baaaked.

Tolerence also plays a role, even veteraned smokers can find themselves paranoid if they stop for a while and the get really high from lack of tolerence.

Yeah you are totally right! The first time you feel uncomfortable and then the next day you smoke again and you feel more at ease.

I did it once. But the trick is to have a higher concentration. 10X 20X 50X. In Europe you can buy it online quite easy.

Also maybe consider renaming your thread to reflect the content and question. This way it can be of help to anyone looking for similar answers.
