My buddy came over with some damiana infused with DMT that he had extracted from acacia. It was evening and we had the lights off, except for a fire in the wood stove. After focusing my intent and composing myself respectfully to the substance, I took the biggest hit I could and held it in. Immediately I felt a big wave of energy moving up from the ground. I quickly put down the pipe and closed my eyes. Behind my eyelids I saw a bunch of thin lines radiating out from several centers, spinning, and forming diffraction patterns. The rushing energy continued to build and these patterns quickly became more and more complex.

And then all of that was gone and forgotten. I was some place else that didn't make any sense at all. It seemed like lots of information was being dumped on me but none of the normal categories of thought could be used to understand. I couldnt even call this place a place. I can barely even remember what this stage was like. I remember one of my first thoughts was: "ok right, this thing" and slightly later I remember being unsure whether this was my normal reality or not. At some point the came a twanging noise, and with each twang there would be a change of state. The twangs started coming more and more frequently and became very uncomfortable. I asked it aloud "please stop." But it didnt stop. I asked it again "Please stop." It didnt stop, and I wondered why it would continue doing something that was hurting me, but I figured that it wasnt fully able to understand me, so I patiently requested again: "No, please stop."

At this point I started coming down. Apparently my eyes were open because I could kind of see shadowy forms of my friend and my wife, although at the time I didnt really understand what I was seeing. My first thought as I started to come back to this reality was that I had to warn my wife not to smoke it, but I couldnt speak.

By the time I could speak, I had changed my mind. Now I was feeling wonderful. Amazingly relaxed with some really cool visuals. These visuals were unlike the few visuals I have experience with the classical psychedelics (I seem not very prone to hallucinating while on those substances), where hallucinations seem to be layered over the physical reality. In this case the world actually seemed to be made of this stuff. At one point, probably just as I was coming out of the breakthrough, I saw my wife’s womb as a glowing world with something DNA-like at the center.

For the rest of the evening I would have fits of laughter at how surprising, overwhelming, and incomprehensible the experience had been. I took another hit about 5-10 minutes after returning from breakthrough, but this did not induce another breakthrough, instead it just boosted the visuals I was already having. When I closed my eyes I tended to see spinning, helical forms.

I woke the next day feeling great. My wife said I looked five years younger.

Thoughts looking back: First, I can’t escape the feeling that I have been there before. Second, I find it interesting that I chose to speak to it during the twanging. Im not in the habit of talking to my drugs, and I had no clear sense of who or what I might be talking to, but I guess I sensed that there was some intelligence there that could be addressed and communicated with. Third, a lot of the talk about machine elves makes sense to me. I didn’t exactly meet and discrete entities. But the place definitely had a mechanical quality (why? that doesnt make any sense), and as Ive said it seemed to have an intelligent quality. Fourth, the idea of hyperspace or multidimensionality now seems like a very literal description of that realm. Part of its incomprehensibility is that it has more dimensions than my mind is used to working with and understanding.

I can’t wait to do it again. I’ll be drinking a brew in a week or two, hopefully that will give me a chance to start to understand the logic of the DMT realm. Ill report back soon.

I really enjoyed this read, how much did you take and what method? When did you take it? In my experience the tale/message ultimately unfolds over a day or two even though it is only of a short duration. Welcome

I haven't fully broken through yet, but I can relate to the feeling of being new and fresh the morning after, my sense of smell is brand new, I'm very energetic and sounds are clearer, also I notice things that I never paid attention to before like new trees.

"First, I can’t escape the feeling that I have been there before."

I recently had my first DMT experience (although it wasn't a breakthrough) and I felt the same way. Although I wasn't "in another dimension" (or however you'd describe a breakthrough), my perception of reality on the substance somehow seemed "familiar." Not necessarily because of the changes in perception that I've had on other entheogens, either. It was a brand new place I went to, but somehow, I had been there before. Or maybe I was always there and never realized it?

I'm glad you had a good experience Smile

I enjoyed you sharing your experience. We and the experiences are all so different, all the time. Very cool. Thanks!

The first time is certainly memorable. The feeing coming down is like a great sense of joy and relief. I am glad to hear your first steps were positive. Thumbs up
