Hi guys. I hope everyone is well Smile

I had a quick question about mushrooms. Me and a friend still have some mushrooms left after our first experience in September (which I actually wrote an account of here at the time), about 20 in total to be precise so enough to get a nice gentle high from 10 each. But we were wondering if it's more of a risk to have them now, after so many months. We weren't sure if they would go off or not, even though they've been dried and whatnot. Any help on this would be hugely appreciated. Thank you Smile

I do believe when exposed to air they can loose potency.

People usually preserve them in honey.

Interestingly enough, it will actually turn the honey BLUE!

If they are dry and air compacted in a plastic container I would assume they would be alright.

From what I have heard/understand, its the exposure to fresh air that will diminish them over time.

Wish you luck.

they should be fine

next time just stick them in an airtight container in the freezer, and they can last for years i think

also, you might want to change the thread title to "mushrooms expiration date" Razz

At one point quite a few years ago I found some shrooms that had been stored for close to ten years in conditions where they went from below freezing to quite hot temps (outdoor storage locker) though in a dry climate. They were in a plastic bag, no special wrapping or care. They lost about 1/2 potency per weight, but the high actually got better in some ways. Something in them changed chemically I suppose. In any case they were quite mellow in how the high came on and had a slightly different feel (again, mellow would be the best description), but once they hit they were very enjoyable and just as long lasting as when they were new.

when they get an orangey-yellow color, they are no longer potent.

with the right storage conditions (my guess would be honey [maybe in the freezer?] or ascorbic acid), however, i think you could store the actives until after your death.
