The title pretty much sums it up. I have been wanting to go to South America since childhood.. and when I learned about Ayahuasca over ten years ago, I have been dreaming of going to an Ayahuasca retreat to partake in at least a semi-traditional Ayahuasca experience with healers who devote their entire lives to this. Has anyone ever done this before? I would like to get some feedback on the matter. Also, are we allowed to talk about different retreat options I have? I always imagine going deep in the forest and drinking ayahuasca as opposed to going to the more touristy ones... but I found one called the temple of the way of light... it has a lot of positive testimonials and it is not too too expensive.

If anyone can direct me in this matter, I will forever be in debt!

Thank you,
Dan

Weren't you just wanting to work with iboga to clear your problems?
"Think more than you speak"

"You are everything that is. Open yourself to the love and understanding that is available."
"To see God, you have to have met the Devil."

Yes, if all works out as planned, i'll have to choose between the two. There are reasons for doing both. Im doing some research on which of the two would be more beneficial at this point in my life. From what I read, iboga would be better to overcome my issue with drug use... But ayahuasca would be more of a spiritual cleansing. And I think taking ayahuasca will help me with my biggest problem, which is social anxiety... For some reason I have a lot of psychological fears(completely un-related to psychedelics), many of which are stopping me from getting a job, going out to exercise, or getting out of my house for that matter. Ive become a hermit recently because my social phobia stops me from leaving my house.

Very oddly, whenever I took psychedelics in the past, they helped me GREATLY with social anxiety and anxiety in general. I have more trouble going out in public sober than when I am tripping!!! I know that makes no sense but it's true. But in order to really fix this issue, I think the best environment is to do this with a group of people.. So that's why I am aiming more towards the side of ayahuasca. I am alone %90 of the day, and its been like this for 2 years now. I do not have anyone to talk to and share a psychedelic experience with, and I feel this is what I need more than anything right now.

I just came back from a yaje retreat, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The main shaman is a true master, and probably the happiest and most loving person I've ever met. The facilities are beautiful, the staff is amazing, and the people that are drawn there are a special breed. I'll pm you a link to their website. You'll be giving yourself a wonderful gift if you make it there. Best of luck on whichever path you choose.
