I just bought 12 6" Bridgesii seedlings. I am very stoked. I will be keeping this updated as my cacti get here and grow. This is gonna be my first attempt at growing them.

very cool!
they are not as cold hardy as other strains- keep them from freezing in winter.

feel free to post questions about cultivation as they arise.

Nice! I'm starting a bunch of seeds this year myself. They start easy from seed if you've got a heat mat.

I also bought Peruvian Torch seeds, HBWR seeds, and phalaris aquaticus seeds. I'm gonna be starting an entheogenic garden.

sacred succulents has some really nice trichocereus varieties available in seed form. I've been having really good germination rates too.

I actually passed by there. When I get I will check them out again. I'm pretty stoked. Do you know how long it takes usually to grow to 1' from 6"?

With pure grown bridgesii they can be a bit slow so from 8 weeks to 6 months depending on your setup.

Sorry for all the questions. I appreciate the help from everyone here. It helps. I kind of bought all this stuff on a whim.

What would you recommend for a set up. I was thinking a metal halide 400 watt light. It's gonna be indoors in my room. Any fertilizer i should get or anything?

as seedlings i'd just plant them is some rich potting soil and wait until they show growth in my set up before additional feeding.

400w mh will be fine for quite a while. start them 36" away and move closer as they adapt to the light.

So I got the first package. It was supposed to have six in them, but it had 7. So I bought clay pots and perlite, organic soil, and cacti mixture. One of them has pure cacti mix, 3 cacti have 50/50 perlite/organic soil, and three have 30/70 perlite/soil. I had just a normal plant light. Gonna do further research on what kind of light and also the distance I should keep it ect... Here are some pictures.

I'm wondering if I should water them right now. Anyone have experience with seedlings?

Stick your finger in the soil. If it feels dry water them. If it's damp wait a few days.

If you using the light in that pic as a grow light for the cacti and not to just light your closet..well it's gunna have to go way closer to those cacti, otherwise they will either not grow at all or they will start to stretch otu and get really skinny but not really gain any mass.
Long live the unwoke.

^op mentions a 400w mh
(perfect for a cacti nursery imo. 12-36" clearance is good once they get used to the light)

Here's an article on growing indoor.

Quote:
After testing lights of different power and spectrums the best results were achieved with 250 watt sodiums.
