I'm very sorry to hear this. But this isn't the end yet, there are great hopes for recovery. I know many more people who survived cancer than people who died from it. Best wishes and a quick recovery to Nemo. Love & support.

Thank you Everyone for the concern and well-wishes. I have been sharing the contents of this thread with Nemo.

We are trying to stay positive. It's horrible not knowing. We had a long talk about how not knowing can sometimes be worse than directly receiving the worst news.

I really appreciate all the well wishes and prayers. I sincerely believe they can only help.

Nemo called his "brother" from back in the day - man lives with his lady in FL now so we are a country away. They thanked us for calling and telling them so soon so they could begin they praying right away. I was gratified. This guy and his lady are old psychonauts and they don't "pray" in the Christian manner. It can only help.

We have been talking a lot and there's been some tears from both of us. I think we are beginning to mourn the time we will NOT have together. Which may or may not be silly. I just don't know without more information (phase/type, etc. - we both fear the spleen, lungs and other lymph sites have been metastasized).

Overall, he feels strong. He has a somewhat swollen cancerous (confirmed carcinoma with biopsy) lymph node in his neck (neck "mass" they call it). He is a bit tired/low-energy (sleeps more/better than ever before) and has evinced symptoms of a slight upper respiratory infection/allergies for a couple/few weeks now.

A worrisome issue is that he has NO weight to loose. He's already clinically underweight, so weird, non-caloric, non-protein, juice only, etc. diets would NOT work in this case. I will be working hard to keep his weight up with whatever he wants to eat, even if that's red meat and a milkshake. . . . And yes, I believe we are going to get him on the FULL Phoenix Tears program. I will be applying to the foundation for help and we are expecting some money to come in within a year or so - as soon as I get my hands on that I'm off to the dispensary as they do have Phoenix Tears available and we'd be able to afford what was needed.

To be honest, at his age, with his background and genetics, I'm not sure if the Tears will cure, but they might. What I am sure of is that they will fight his nausea and bad feelings, help fight the cancer and thus extend his life and quality of life significantly.

He says he wishes he had gotten it checked out 2-3 weeks ago. All I can say is if it seems weird or unusual, maybe you should get it checked out right away - if only to rule out the kind of bad news we are dealing with.

He's making yet another sincere effort to quit smoking cigarettes - for those of you who smoke, NOW is the time to try to quit. Don't wait until you are in your 60's . . . Nemo says, "Nothing like a cancer diagnosis to get me to try to quit smoking again." Good point, that. Sad.

Much love to you all and best wishes for your father tat. What can one say but Cancer sucks/bites/blows?

Peace & Love,
Pandora

Hi Pandora, hope you are staying strong!

I can relate to what you are going through, just a little over a year ago I was given the news that I had about 5 years left to live, due to a tumor within my spinal cord( ependymoma), I had to have emergency surgery to try and remove it, and well am now trying to deal with the after effects of surgery. While my tumor wasnt malignant, it was life threatning. The whole diagnosis was like being hit by a bomb.

Pandora, you and your husband are in my thoughts and prayers, il be sending you guys special happy vibes and thoughts.

Be strong and positive ( easy to say this, I know), but know this, someone, somewhere across the pond is thinking of you guys. If you ever need to chat, il be happy to oblige.

So sorry to read this. You and I have not communicated directly in the forum, but I have definitely noticed the love and dedication you give here to complete strangers, so I can only imagine what the two of you must have for each other.

Many people do beat cancer, and it seems many of those do so with methods outside of the medical establishment's chemo/radiation approach. I would definitely look into some of the approaches mentioned by other's including MMJ, diet, and other alternative modalities.

Wishing you both strength to deal well with whatever comes.

Let's hope this only serves to make you both stronger in positive ways. I can imagine the sense of limbo of your present situation... That's got to be heavy. I wish I had anything at all helpful to offer. You are both in my thoughts... Remember that many people do beat cancer. Good luck!

LATEST CANCER INFORMATION from Johns Hopkins:

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY S...TARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY …

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to STARVE the cancer cells by not feeding it with foods it needs to multiple.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water--best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.

Anger, unforgiving and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

17. Cannabis cures cancer, so get as much of it in you as quickly as you can if you want to prevent cancer in the most efficient way. Follow instructions at phoenixtears.ca for best results when using cannabis extracts in the treatment of cancer. (added by JB)

I don't agree with everything on this list but it does give some good food for thought so I figured I'd share it.

I'm sure I'll be doing this a lot coming up, but here's asking for everyone to focus their good thoughts, wishes and prayers towards Nemo Amicus - he goes in tomorrow morning to see a specialist and get more information. We may not yet be able to get all the answers we seek, but here's hoping it's Hodgkin's Stage I - I understand this is actually curable. There's like about 30 sub-types of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma and that one is much more deadly. . . .

Here's hoping for the best and trying to strengthen Nemo's part of the morphic field.

Peace & Love,
Pandora

Such sad news, you are both really lucky to have each other though... I know that one of my friends close friends had cancer and they changed their eating habits to a healthy organic fruit and vegetable diet and in just over a year he managed to beat the cancer. So it definitely can be done, I would also suggest looking into: sour sop, curcumin, reishi mushrooms, green tea, lei gong teng.

I found these really fascinating articles: Anti-Cancer Vaccines and Agressive Cancer and Plant Based Diets

I wish you both nothing but happiness and health for your future, please do your best no matter what to stay strong and positive as positivity and compassion heals like nothing else. ♥

He's back from a day of poking and proding. The cancer started in a part of a tonsil left over from a botched operation over half a century ago (Back in the 50's kids' tonsils were routinely removed.), but it also looks like it has roped a lymph node into this mess.

I'm unsure if he just has oropharygeal cancer or both throat cancer AND lymphoma.

He's going in for a CAT scan tomorrow to check for additional body parts' involvement (metastases) which will help with staging.

He's going in for surgery on Friday morning to remove the cancerous tonsil - again best wishes, thoughts and prayers are always appreciated.

He will have a follow-up course of radiation.

We have a new list of questions to take in prior to the Friday surgery.

Very frustrating not having the answers and scary looking at throat cancer survival rates - makes lymphoma look preferable.

I'll continue to keep you posted.

Crying or very sad

Peace & Love,

Another call for best wishes - Nemo Amicus is going under the knife tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. to have his cancerous tonsil (left over from a botched tonsilectomy about 50 years ago) removed. Then there will be radiation follow-up. I'll be transporting Nemo home later tomorrow if all goes well, then spending this weekend monitoring him for blood loss and breathing issues . . .

Had he more quickly realized just who they were,he would have shown them more respect.Had he tried harder to fathom their brilliant minds,he would have taken more of their teachings to heart.Had he more clearly understood the purpose of their being,
he would have more vigorously tried to assist them. They were truly honorable; he was sadly prejudiced.
They were exceedingly well informed; he was grossly ignorant. They were totally indefatigable; he so often, and so quickly, gave up. Still, for many years there was a strong inter-species alliance between the Eleven-Eleven of the Half-way Realm, their Seraphic Associates, and their flesh-and-blood friend, a common mortal. Much was accomplished, many profited, and, there’s only one regret...They could have achieved so much more...

Well, we are back home and the surgery went without a hitch. Needless to say, Nemo is a very unhappy camper right now.

I had a good talk with the doctor and basically we are going to get just about ALL the answers when we meet with him on Wednesday of next week. All the biopsy pathology reports, the CAT scan results, an idea of the source point for all of this and a good idea on type/stage information.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts, prayers and best wishes. It's amazing how communities of good people come together around these kinds of stressors.

Peace & Love,
