I am loving these forums and have been researching tirelessly in preparation for my first small extraction. Thank you to all of you for your input and involvement in making this such a valuable source of information.

SWIM is in Northern NSW, Australia, and there are acacias everywhere. SWIM's main concern is that most of what SWIM has read suggest that the root bark is the best source. SWIM is reluctant to harvest the root bark and SWIM is wondering if there is a more sustainable source in this area. I really don't wanna kill any trees! Can the leaves / twigs also be used?

Sorry if this isn't the best place to post this question, fell free to suggest a better place Smile

Hello and welcome to the Nexus!

There is a way to harvest root bark from acacia trees without killing them, the exact technique though, I am not privy too. They do a similar process with mimosa hostilis root bark when harvesting as well, making sure to not kill the trees.

Hope to see more of you around and again, welcome! Smile
