Hello!

Ok,so.. this Friday me and a friend decided to try out the ayahuasca that was given to me about 7 weeks ago (home brewed by another friend that just now left for a 3 month vacation). Ive had it in the fridge completely sealed since then. ..we were told that it was made potent, so we only needed 0.5dl each.

30 minutes after drinking we clearly felt the effects of the MAOI. ..But we never felt the effects of DMT, at all. After a 2h wait we gave up to our hunger (been fasting for 8h before intake)and later fell asleep. Interestingly, we both had clear and rememberable dreams that night though nothing beyond the usual.

My hypothesis is that the MAOI did not prevent DMT degradation in time, and so it wasnt orally active. Or what do you think?

Maybe next time i should try drinking a little, waiting 45min and then drink more?

And also, while im at it, how important is the diet? is it enough just not eating 4h pre intake, or should one be very strict (no alcohol day before, coffe etc)?.

I know there are a whole bunch of threads on this so answer whatev comes to mind, mostly I wanted to see if anybody recognizes this non visual experience and has any comments

Thank you! Thumbs up

Was it prepared as one concoction or did you take the MAOI brew and the DMT brew separately? Also do you know what admixture (DMT plant) was used (i.e. chacruna or mimosa or chaliponga...)?

Yeah, mimosa is supposed to be brewed separately from the harmala brew whereas with chacruna they can be mixed together. You probably should have taken them separately (even if only taking the two brews back to back). Not sure if you can combine them at the end, but I never heard of doing that.

Mhm, ok I understand. Thank you for input. ..Its strange however, because the friend that made it has been cooking for quite some time with seemingly expected, positive results. I recall him mentioning something like "nomans tek", but Im not sure. And.. I cant be completely sure that it is mimosa, as he is not around I cant confirm.

Next weekend maybe Ill try dividing the dose, 30min apart ..And post back in this thread ..with more details on the breweing.

Now I'm a bit confused because if you're talking about nomans tek, that is for DMT extraction which is not necessary with ayahuasca. You should contact your friend and have him get you some of the details on what exactly it was that you consumed and how it was prepared...oh I see he's not around. I don't know what to tell you. If it is a mimosa brew you have (albeit perhaps with harmalas in it), perhaps you should make a harmala brew of your own (out of syrian rue or caapi vine), take that first, and then take your brew. These are the sticky sort of situations when you don't do the work for yourself, as you are finding out. It's always best to make your own preparations, unless dealing with a trained and trusted shaman (which I've never done).

Yes you are right. In all remarks. I just now searched Noman´s tek on the Wiki and came to the same conclusion. I know he mentioned it but it must have been in relation to his extracting. Not brewing. I believe the ayahuasca was cooked seperately and joined afterwards.

As you say i will both find out more specifics on how this perticular brew was made ..And I am, as we speak, getting more and more familiar with the process of extracting/cooking myself. I will post here when i know more on the topic of this thread. Thanks again!

Ayahuasca does not always give visions, which are in many cases not really the point of the experience.

yes, ive read similar comments in other threads. ..Still my inferences tell me that something wasnt right in the physical process ..the experience felt absent.
Do you suggest we were not able to experience more because of our mindset etc ?

Unlikely. When done properly, there's probably no mindset that will stop that freight train from rolling through town.

it wont matter how long its on the fridge really, although mimosa goes bad much quicker than caapi does IME. caapi can last for months on end it seems, although it does ferment a bit eventually.

weak experiences are very common. it can be a combination of any number of things; from weaker plants, to lower dosages, to individual sensitivity, ect. We don't have enough information to really pin it down at all

personally wouldn't drink anything unless i knew what was in it and at what general amounts

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

I agree. The person behind the brew is a dear friend who I trust completely. And in normal circumstances I would just call him and ask. Unfortunately he is abroad for 4 months, but I have sent him an email. Ill post here when i know more. But you do not think that it would make a difference dividing the dose, waiting for the MAOI to kick in? Thnks

Just to be clear, the issue that I'm seeing here isn't necessarily about taking them at different times. The issue seems to be that you have them combined together as it is, and if that's the case they may have been brewed together which for mimosa is a no-no, and could be why you're not feeling the effects.
