Hi im new to this forum!!!
I recently got this virola bark, I plan to base it in order to be able to smoke it... but first I need to get the resin from the bark so it works better/less plant matter....
Would i just make a tea and boil until it evaps???

I have heard that the bark available online usually has already been scraped by the natives or something. Usually people claim it is devoid of actives. Traditionally some tribes head the bark up and let the resin flow out of the bark strips and then boil it down in a pot and mix it with ash I think and sometimes other herbs. Long live the unwoke.

It seems that it does have actives in it. Many people reported success sublingually, and it's traditionally made into a snuff. I tried it orally with an MAOI with no worthwhile results. In my opinion, you're best bet would be to do an extraction to get the actives out. The resin doesn't seem to be potent enough to produce a lot of affects. Whether you think you can or cannot, you are right.

^the people who report activity from what I have seen always have resin that that ordered not just bark strips. There have been numerous threads here in the past about people trying to extract the bark and getting nothing. Could be faulty extraction.. Long live the unwoke.

Yeah, that's true. All of the reports I read about it being active used the virola resin, and even at that there's not a ton of DMT in it. Whether you think you can or cannot, you are right.

The locals put it on a fire, and the red liquid that seeps out they collect in a pot, and cook with the mix, probably tree ash. Maybe you should try their way of prep, if your boiling tek doesn't work. "Eat your vegetables and do as you're told, or you won't be going to the funfair!"

so what would be the best aproach to extract it???
boil it down with some vinegar water-evaporate,
use lime on scrapings to base and then acetone extraction??

Maybe you should try their way of prep, if your boiling tek doesn't work. Ive tried this..... and the virola pieces just burned with no red ooze emerging from where the cambrial layer should have been.I tend to agree with Jamie insofar as the bark pieces seem to be just that-bark, with it having been processed for any psychoactive sap well before it reaches the likes of us.
