How long does this pounding heart rate last on the come up?

Or is this not experianced by everyone comming up on DMT?
I personally dont experiance this on salvia come ups at all...

If i get a pounding heart on the come up it sometimes lasts for the major part of the trip and the booming sound can be incorporated into the trip.
A lot of members calm themselves prior to smoking in various ways. I am over 40 and have had no ill effects from this, and from a mental health perspective i think i am better off smoking it now than when in my 20s.

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

You know, there was that poll about gender breakdown among members... I'd be more interested in knowing the median age. I suspect it's higher than you would think.

I'm 44, and an active psychedelic user. I dose lower than I did in my twenties, but this is less about health concerns and more about the kinds of experiences I'm interested in. I've annihilated myself plenty of times. Now I just want to stay in touch with that place.

I think it's way more about general health than age. Age is relative. I'm active and at my correct weight, and am capable of flying a thirty pound toddler around the living room while making jet engine noises for long periods if time. A thirty year old overweight couch potato might have more to worry about than I.

For me there is an increase in heart rate, but that starts well before the pipe is lit. But that is still worth taking into account, despite not being a direct chemical effect. IME, you will have more positive DMT experiences if you have been exercising recently.

I second this and also think its an important poll that could give some insight. You should create such a poll and also ask members to post any health conditions they have if they would.

I've dosed my father a few times and he is 60. No known health conditions, except he has had a stroke twice in his life. He did just fine.

I met a couple shamans that took ayahuasca into their 80's and even 90's. Not saying one should Razz Think one should be pretty healthy to do something like that and not sure if smoking dmt is more risky

Wow, some members are much younger than I'd have guessed. I wonder if DMT gave them wisdom or it was their wisdom that brought them to DMT (the Ivy League school dilemma : )

Just read through those threads. Man, I am an old fart. Laughing
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

I don't know that DMT specifically raises one's BP. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but a rise in BP while experiencing DMT derives more from how your psyche is processing and reacting to the experience.

I think this is probably closer to correct. I don't believe that DMT causes a 'chemical' reaction that raises the blood pressure and increased heart rate. However, it is the experience that one has while on DMT that causes the rise in blood pressure and heart rate. It's much like a roller coaster ride. If you get on the ride and it gives you a thrill, then your heart rate increases a bit. If you get on the ride and it scares the shite out of you, then your heart rate and blood pressure goes up quite a lot. As you ride the roller coaster more often you become more comfortable with it until, eventually, your pulse and blood pressure doesn't rise any more than it would if you got in a car for a leisurely drive.
