Hello Nexus,

I am a psychonaut hoping to hypothetically make and try DMT. I love chemistry and have a decent background in it (minor + a couple other classes, and molec.bio major), and am in the process of furthering my knowledge (masters). My life has gone through a severe workaholic stage to get to where I am and I never had time for much hypothetical drug use and conjecture, but I managed to tone down the work and find time to explore myself and the world around me. I am well versed in philosophy and writing and hope to contribute to several of the forums here. After perusing the forum it instantly appears to be a more mature insightful enterprise I would love to be a part of it!

SWIM regularly vapes green, occasionally does shrooms, hung out w/ molly, is soon to try mesc and LSA things but SWIM generally has a very strong presence of mind and even doubling and tripling others doses has NOT produced what SWIM would denote as intense experiences. SWIM thinks their over-active symapthetic nervous system dulls the effects of psychadelics, but hasn't had the time to fully research the limited literature on this subject.
And the actual achievements of biology are explanations in terms of mechanisms founded on physics and chemistry, which is not the same thing as explanations in terms of physics and chemistry.

STS is a community for people interested in growing, preserving and researching botanical species, particularly those with remarkable therapeutic and/or psychoactive properties.

Welcome aboard!!
I always dig having more academics around.

Can you please elaborate?

From my experience I have always found that tolerance to psychedelics is hugely subjective.

P.S. No need to swim on the Nexus! Smile
DMT smells like math.

Mo' Knowledge Mo' Power, glad to be here, hopefully in a greater capacity soon, as my job hours drop from 60-80 a week to around 40/week supposedly in 2 weeks.

I would agree that tolerance is subjective, but of every person I have tripped with I have always needed the most of everything despite never being the person with the most mass, often having less experience and potential tolerance with the substance of interest. That being said, I have surmised the only quality I can think of that would produce this affect would be my over active sympathetic nervous system (OASN). This could be physiological or behavioral. Many people develop anxiety with an OASN but I'm calmer than anyone I know ( a forced behavioral adaptation I would guess). Anyhow, If not that physiologically, with higher adrenaline, higher cortisol levels, higher heart rate, metabolism, I would imagine, either the general flurry of hormones and metabolites my body over produces mutes the effect of drugs to an extent in comparison to a more average person. I.e. there is no reason I should be able to outdrank my bar hopping 225lb friend when I drink once a month and weigh 50 lbs less. Yet this is the case. But this could be behavioral as well I suppose, self control, presence of mind, etc.

Thoughts? Similar experiences anyone?
