Swim just finished thick-light's tek and this is what his final product looks like.

Does this look similar to what everyone else is getting? Definitely more fluffy than MHRB extract ime, very waxy but very active.

How does the experience itself differ from MHRB?

Isn't there a different alkaloid composition or is the NMT somehow separated out?

Not sure how to separate the two, i think the difference in texture is due the NMT content. The experience is slightly different I don't have the words to describe it but there are a few threads on the NMT experience on the nexus.

Overall, though, the hyperspace, classic "DMT experience" is still retained?

I honestly think the only way to seperate the two would be to use more advanced chromotography like HPLC. The two molecules are just too similar. However, with some simple chemistry one could add a heavy subunit to NMT selectively by finding a reaction selective for secondary over tertiary amines, then seperate the two by column chromotagraphy or HPLC. It can be done, but NMT is also psychoactive.
Another way to do this if you know how to run an actual reaction is to methylate the NMT at the amide to convert it to DMT. I'm sure theres a fairly simple reaction that can achieve this. but now we are dealing with actual chemical reactions and not simple extractions.

Eschweiler–Clarke reaction, look this one up, it can convert NMT to DMT with commonly available reagents. This way you actually convert all your NMT to DMT.

Theres a good wikipedia entry for the Eschweiler–Clarke reaction. xs means that you add way more than you need, that gets the reaction moving.

I should also note that since DMT is already fully methylated it will not react and so you can just run the reaction on your whole product.

i'm a little puzzled as to why people are wanting to separate the nmt from the dmt? the nmt doesn't detract from the dmt experience at all in fact it adds its own flavour. confusa extract is very special in its effects and I would put that to the large ratio of nmt.. trust the plant's wisdom Razz

It isn't methylated enough!!! it needs to be methylated at least twice as much. Laughing

i mention the Eschweiler–Clarke reaction becuase it is simple, you just put your dmt/nmt mix in formaldehyde with formic acid dissolved in it and all the nmt will become dmt, while leaving the dmt as is. It's just a simple way of increasing the amount of dmt if you know you have a significant amount of NMT.

Can you create a tek for this? how would you seperate the dmt out of the solution afterwards? and is formaldehyde readily available?

You know I think I will create a tek on this conversion as recovery from formaldhyde would require you to salt the product out with fumarates most likely, but I still have to try this to be sure, and yes both formaldehyde and formic acid are both readily available, so no worries there.

I will work on this once I aquire some acacia as it is known to have high NMT levels. I will have to write a recovery procedure that may be slightly tricky, but I'm sure I can make it as simple as posssible.

I also want to note that you will know when the reaction is complete when CO2 bubbles stop forming in the solution, giving this method the added bonus of having an easy way of knowing the reaction is working and when its done.

excellent! i eagerly await your tek, as this seems much more promising then trying to get all the nmt to crash out of the solvent after 6 hours at room temp. and has the added bonus of turning all that goop into dmt Very happy

..why?
don't you get it? NMT enhances the DMT..

lol this whole thing about removing NMT from acacia is just sort of humerous. Whats the point? Its an endogenous tryptamine that synergizes with the DMT..it's not toxic.
Long live the unwoke.
