great videos! I've only been to one festival (lightning in a bottle), but when I move up near oregon I can't wait to go to more during festival season n all.

the best part about them is they bring everyone together, everybody just forgets about all the bullshit that divides us in normal day-to-day society.

Yes I can't help but link it to what the psychedelic experience is. It's clearly connected and I hope to hear some talk about this.

Thank you thank you thank you for sharing this. It brought a tear to my eye, not of sadness but overwhelming happiness. This coming summer will my tenth anniversary at a festival called Shambhala which is held in Salmo, British Columbia, Canada. When I watched this little video it reminded me of the times I have for a brief period every year. It quantifies the spirit that I always knew existed and now feel apart of. Its funny, the first time I launched into hyperspace I thought to myself "This is what Shambhala means" I felt as though I finally understood the beautiful spirit that resides within.

anyone going to the rainbow gathering in palenque?

I was hoping to. My friend invited me. I have a trip coming up though. I will visit a Rainbow Gathering soon though. Love to read stories about them. I will check out Envision festival in February.

I had the opportunity to go to the Rainbow Gathering in Mexico, but I have too much stuff going on right now and no passport. Some people I know are down there though, I'm sure it's beautiful there.

I've only gone to three festivals so far, and they wouldn't count as transformational, but they were loving and fun and just great of course. I almost went to Rootwire this year but last minute a friend backed out so that didn't happen. I'm going to Earth Night 2012 this Friday which is like a Rootwire-themed special show by Papadosio. It will be transformational for many in attendence I'm sure.

I live twenty minutes from the Farm

I have never been to any festivals, but am very interested. I have been trying to figure out how to find some, but I've only really found out about the rainbow festival. I Live in Washington state, so I assume there's plenty around. Are there any good ways to find out about festivals?

I'm really excited by how many of these temporary autonomous zones are popping up now. The dance/festival culture has become a truly global phenomena. Granted, every one of these spaces is a little different and has it's own unique style, I see a unified way of relating to each other and our world emerging from these gatherings.

This new breed of humanity is at once recognizable as both immeasurably ancient and incredibly advanced. We are fusing the most primitive rituals with the most cutting-edge technology and birthing a novel cosmology. This blossoming paradigm is based on celebration and freedom, shifting our value judgements back toward creativity and self-expression.

Terence talked about an archaic revival and I think he was spot on with that particular prediction. The reality of this becomes readily apparent when you are out in the dust and dirt, surrounded by beautiful smiling faces, dancing the sun up. As alluded to previously in this thread, this is what happens when we step out of the dominant cultural model; this is our future.

The end of history is not a cataclysm, it's a dance party!

If you're in Washington; come to Shambhala! It's really not too far away at all and it was voted North America's best large event last year by an underground breakbeat magazine. It is really a one-of-a-kind place and where I, and so many others, feel most at home.

I love Wookiefoot! I really want to go to their festivals

Looove the camping festival scene. Shangri-La is awsome have had some great times there! Been a real friendly unique crowd there but security has been cracking down lately, patrolling, and bringing about more oppressive rules. Downing the freedom vibe, having to be quiet by 1 am, ect.

Shifted my scene to Summerset Music Camping Festival in WI, it is pretty great cant wait to attend again this August.

I have spent the last couple years traveling and experiencing some of the most renowned festivals in the world. All in all, I have to say that the Kumbh Mela was the most transformational festival I have ever had the pleasure to take part in.
