I can’t cite sources, but I’ve read that salvia has little to no effect on blood pressure.
DMT has a moderate effect. The Strassman DMT study excluded individuals with high blood pressure, suggesting that the effect is strong enough to warrant some concern among those with hypertension.
From personal experience, I’ve never felt an increase in heart rate at the onset of salvia’s effects, yet I often feel this at the onset of DMT’s effects. I’m not sure how or if heart rate corresponds to blood pressure, so I can’t comment on the effects that either has had on my BP.
A strong dose of salvia can be every bit as sudden and “forceful” as DMT, so I doubt the effect can be attributed to anxiety alone.
