Hello dear nexus members

I am currently possibly enrolled in an academic program that provides me with a beautiful and very large 'tropical' style greenhouse and am required to come up with my own project. This can include hydroponics or soil and can be any plant that I desire as long as it is "legal." I know the legality of plants varies from place to place, so I will keep that in mind.

Does anyone have any cool ideas? This is a great opportunity and I want to put some serious thought into it.

Thanks a lot guys and gals.

Good thoughts, Good vibes

It depends alot on where you want to build the greenhouse and what plants you want to put inside.

Different plants need different climates and conditions Smile

More info would be welcomed.

Hello DMTree,

Sounds like a great opportunity indeed, I'd jump right in. Like JourneyToJah said, you should decide first which plants are you intending and able to grow, that's your call.

Then, considering each plant needs, you can start getting practical and see what's feasible or not. It's a better idea to design a greenhouse having the plants in mind than the other way around.

You can take a look at the thread in my signature for some 101 gardening info and grow space ideas.

I am not attempting to build a greenhouse. At the university I attend stands a large greenhouse with a tropical climate and I am required to run an experiment within it. For example; pick three different types of nutrients, water the same kind of plant with each to see which is the most effective. That is a very simplistic example, but I am asking for ideas for my experiment. This project can really be anything plant and greenhouse related as long as it isn't cannabis or the like and can be can be as complex as necessary.

To sum it up, they are providing me with a greenhouse and I can use it for any project I find interesting.

Much thanks!

Good vibes, Good thoughts

Hello Vodsel, thank you for your reply!

I have actually read through that thread back when I lurked the forums before joining the team and found it very resourceful. I am currently attending university in the name of plants and have quite a vast knowledge on trees, growth, light systems, soil compositions, hydroponics, etc,.

It is my hope that I can utilize this project in the name of our beloved molecule if at all possible. I am not versed in the knowledge of south american botanical aspects of horticulture and felt this was a good place to broaden my horizons. Aside from any other ideas, would you have any recommendations concerning mimosa/acacia/chacruna/etc; that is growing conditions, likes, dislikes, where cuttings/seeds are safely acquired. If any of these questions should not be asked feel free to disregard them. I am a plant lover and now that I have a tropical greenhouse at my disposal I may as well kill two birds with one stone and continue to preserve the molecule in anyway possible.

Thanks in advance for your reply Smile Smile

Ok, just a few questions then:

- How long can your project take?
- How much surface can you use?
- What are the requirements of the project? Are we talking about propagation and growth, or analysis as well?
- Is the college providing for the growing space only, or also tools and equipment? And if so, which equipment do you have, other than basic tools?
