I am just curious to know how you guys few cannabis in the terms of a psychedelic perspective? Do you view it as something that can teach you or help you get a new view on something? The Unknown = A Place to Learn

i think cannabis can definitely be psychedelic and offer alter states of consciousness and perspective;
THough you have to be careful with cannabis; because if your mind is wandering in my opinion cannabis really can be a double edged sword; It seems to exaggerate whatever I do; Healthy or unhealthy;
Cannabis can be a powerful tool for awareness and being in the moment; but It is easy to get lost in all your thoughts and trapped within the ego self; Analyzing your whole life and such; Its all how you apply and use it;
However, it is possible to experience true self with cannabis definitely;
One of my favorite things to do after cannabis is meditation..
I think with clear intent and purpose cannabis is a very important tool to access spirit etc.

I certainly think so. It doesn't quite whack you over the head with the new perspective quite so radically as the "classic psychedelics" do, but it can definitely be a perception opener, particularly in high doses and for the sensitives with low tolerance. Even before I took any psychedelics, I recall seeing colors in the air from smoking bud. I still do except I don't have to get nearly so high now. It can relax certain psychological tensions to allow the creative element to flow through - not simply with making things like music and what not, but through the association of distinct ideas and concepts, etc...Though marijuana is known for its short-term memory impairment, I personally find that it can bring some pretty random, long-lost long-term memories to the fore, and as memory is somewhat at the heart of the creative act (in the balance on convergent and divergent thinking), I think it can certainly help in establishing new perspectives. I hope that made sense "Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind" - Albert Einstein
"The Mighty One appears, the horizon shines. Atum appears on the smell of his censing, the Sunshine- god has risen in the sky, the Mansion of the pyramidion is in joy and all its inmates are assembled, a voice calls out within the shrine, shouting reverberates around the Netherworld." - Egyptian Book of the Dead
"Man fears time, but time fears the Pyramids" - 9th century Arab proverb

"I am just curious to know how you guys few cannabis in the terms of a psychedelic perspective?" its an incredibly psychedelic plant in my experience that has its place, and a lot to teach. many just don't take enough and/or have a high tolerance. there is also a lot of individual variation in sensitivity to its wide range of affects. some never really seem to get to the very psychedelic states no matter how much they smoke, for whatever reason and its not just psychedelic in the sense of visionary journeys. it can completely alter your perception of space/time/self/reality/perception in intense and tangible ways that are extremely difficult to describe. i remember the other day that jamie and ice house mentioned how high doses of cannabis can at times actually be similar to salvia, and i agree. but its different and for me can be more similar to dmt at times as well "Do you view it as something that can teach you or help you get a new view on something?" yea definitely. this is one of the main ways i started to use it from age 13 onward when i was first exploring it. i'd realized it could help provide a fresh perspective on things and myself... and so if i wanted to try and penetrate into something on a deeper and more holistic level, more outside the reality-tunnel created by my mental programming/conditioning, then i would smoke and read this, or listen to that, or try that meditation, or explore that area of the woods, or think about this, ect ect ect while that can be amazing and enhance life greatly, there is a lot of thoughts that can come up in the cannabis high which feel very convincingly true; especially in the realm of psycho-analytic thought processes about you and your thoughts and actions. But these can be illusions to, especially when the trip goes south and our anxiety drives the cannabis-charged ghestalting thought processes...so even that should be taken lightly with humor and a grain of salt
<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"

it is definatly a psychedelic..and a very powerful one. Cannabis can make me even more freaked out and paranoid at psychedelic doses than other psychedelics I work with. I have no tolerance to cannabis though. It is however, not as useful to me or as insightful as other psychedelics like DMT and psilocybin, mescaline etc. I dont feel like I learn as much from it as I do from tryptamines,phenethylamines, and salvia. This might be becasue I was addicted to cannabis basically at one point and smoked it constantly and had to quit and remove myself from it for a good long time. I only smoke it occasionally now and it is extremely powerful when I do..and it's uses are limited for me now. It has it's time and place but beyond that it's not something I can learn from on a regular basis any longer. Full on cannabis effects are honestly creepy at this point for me! I get weird space-time dialation with this effect that is almost like a split personality thing..it is like what I imagine a deleriant mixed with a psychedelic might be like..but I have no experience with real deleriants so maybe not.. It's best use for me is for tantric sex. Long live the unwoke.

Incredible psychedelic in its own right. Increased associations (observation of patterns) and a clearer view/control of the mind/mental space. With a high tolerance the visual aspects are definitely diminished for me, but the subtle psyche changes remain and can be focused (meditation, stream of consciousness thinking, etc). Much milder than the main contenders I use for heavier psyche work (mushrooms, LSD, DMT), but more gradually can lead to similar shifts in perspective. This is compared to substances like alcohol which I find shifts my perspective away from the mental space and more into physical form (also fantastic in its own right for socializing, expressing yourself at the cost of a lowered awareness of self imo). The inner soul is full of joy. Reveal my secrets and sew me whole. With each day, "I" heeds your call. You may not care the slightest and may not be the brightest, but from here "I" sees you're mighty for you created it all.
And the jumbling sea rose above the wall.
Through this chaos comes the order you enthrall.

for sure, i see cannabis as a very powerful psychadelic ally and teacher. Its not commonly viewed this way because of the way its commonly abused, but when respected and used in moderation its taught me many things and been healing. Also since using dmt its become more psychadelic, lite open eyed visuals and higher energy states.

It has its benefits and its costs. For me, it facilitates intuitive leaps precisely because it dampens short term memory and blunts some of the more habitual filtering that we normally have in place. I think this is the same mechanism that Global mentioned, with deeply archived memories popping up seemingly from nowhere. Deep connections are explored in ways that normal thinking doesn't make room for.
In itself, this is slightly psychedelic, but a much higher doses (which I indulge every week to two weeks) I'll get visual effects that are pretty comparable to low amounts of LSD (100ug or so). This includes slight crawling of the patterns on the bathroom walls and other very mild "melting" style OEVs, then a bit of enhanced ability to visualize with closed eyes.
I also find it deeply introspective. Thankfully I don't seem to be the type to get lost in paranoid ruminations.
Parshavak, I hear ya. My suggestion is try cold-turkeying down to two bowls a day, first one not before mid afternoon. Enjoy the increased clarity in the morning, look forward to that great first buzz of the day (which is often the best one). Refresh again late evening, maybe with stronger stuff. I enjoy my cannabis way more at this reduced rate than I did before. I've managed to maintain this for a decade and there's been no slow creeping smokers cough or anything. Feels like a good balance.
