male, 66 years old, user of psychedelics since the 1960's (mainly LSD, psilocybin mushrooms, and more recently DMT)

a few thoughts... perhaps experience is a mixed blessing? 'The Fool' seems to me the most significant card in the Major Arcana -- "Before Enlightenment, chop wood carry water; after Enlightenment, chop wood carry water."

the accounts i've read of DMT being taken in a group setting rarely mention any 'telepathic effect' between the people taking it -- to illustrate: if i took LSD by myself, and then entered a room where there were six other people i had never met before, and unknown to me three of the people in the room had also taken LSD, i would expect (rightly or wrongly) to know almost immediately which three people were also tripping; but i would not expect this to happen if instead we had taken DMT -- do you think there is a relative lack of awareness of other people when taking DMT? is it best taken individually?

Good quality Syrian rue (Peganum harmala) for an incredible price!

I am not engaging in Aya use at the moment. But! I can say that there is a connection between two trippers.

Hello lidea,

Welcome to the Nexus. Nice to meet yet another middle aged person. We are getting more and more members aged 40-65+ these days and I love it.

My husband was also a Summer of Love psychedelic user, including synthetic DMT from approx. 1968-1970. He was an off and on user of LSD until he met me in the 80's. I had heard of DMT but Nemo Amicus (my husband) was the only person I'd met who'd tried it. Long story short, Noman's tek (you can find this in the wiki here) opened up the world of extracted DMT to us and we found ourselves as psychedelic "re-entry" students in the 2010's. Big grin

So, did you extract your own DMT? If so, which tek did you use and how were the results?

I'm not a big believer in the so-called psychedelic telepathy effect myself.

Yes, if it's done correctly, there is more than a relative lack of awareness in the setting. One is utterly transposed in both time and space. I, personally, haven't had much luck or fun or insight or whatever, doing DMT in groups. I prefer to do it alone, or do it then go into the chat room here or write a trip report or. . . . But, everyone is an individual and this is just one woman's opinion.

So, what else might you be willing to share about yourself? I'd love to learn a bit more about you and hope you become an active member here. Again, I want to warmly welcome you to the Nexus.

ah, i remember hearing (more likely reading) of DMT in 1968, and even looked into the possibility of synthesing some, but materials were hard to get hold of at the time -- it wasn't until a couple of years ago that i finally came across the spice... it was a surprisingly long wait

how exciting -- sometimes life's patterns make beautiful sense Smile

my first use of psychedelics was LSD in 1966, a lovely sunny summer day in Kew Gardens (London) -- then again the following spring in woods outside Belfast (Ireland) -- but it wasn't till a misty Autumn night in Bradford (Northern England) that i realised why it was called "tripping" (ie an experience with a beginning, a journey, and an end) -- at that time LSD came in the form of sugar lumps wrapped in silver paper, or liquid in a dark brown bottle dispensed with a droppper, and the strength was very variable, tho i guess it all originated from Sandoz -- however i did learn the (pharmaceutically pure) source of the LSD on that occasion, and it was a measured amount

it wasn't until the following year that the pills started circulating (i think the first ones i saw were strawberry fields and blue cheer) -- they seemed to lack the clarity of the early liquid, but as one of the tenets of the age was, "it's all in the mind", it has to be assumed that it was my mind which lacked the clarity Smile

then came the microdots (purple haze), the window panes and eventually the blotters, which at least left us with a new art form

by the 90s i was preferring ecstacy and/or mushrooms -- it was just easier on my head -- tho there was an interesting period when i was acting as a guinea pig, trying out exotics i almost certainly wouldn't have come across otherwise (sometimes not knowing what it was until afterwards)

Pandora wrote:

no, it's extracted by someone i know, but it's not a regular thing -- i've had the materials for some time, but not the privacy -- maybe i'll get the chance to try an extraction this summer -- (thanks for the heads up re Noman's tek)

Pandora wrote:

i've had full-blown "telepathy" (for want of a better word) on acid a few times, and once on a mixture of methamphetamine and grass -- i've felt the potential for it with mushrooms many times, but the strength of the dose, who one is with, one's initial state of mind, and the general setting are presumably the relevant factors

thanks for that -- this adds to the general impression i'm getting about how others use it -- i've had DMT in (sympathetic) groups and alone, and it appears to be a solitary journey

the different effects between LSD and DMT seem to be mirrored by the different effects between the psilocybes and the amanitas (maybe to do with the harmine/harmaline?) -- (i'd love to explore amanitas further -- there's a stage after a few hours when it's possible to enter a powerful meditative state -- unfortunately i've a problem with the taste and smell, which makes it hard for me to get it down my throat without retching, no matter how well it's disguised)
