Hello Guys,
found this forum these days and its amazing! Good job done and doing!

I wanted to share my favourit way of vaping cause I often red about trouble with this.
I use a glasspipe (not a Bong) with a coupling for standart 18.8 bowls. The bowl should be as high as possible, mine is 6,5cm + male adapter. I put a screen in the lower end, so that nothing could fall through the bowl if you put something in, that´s a bit tricky cause screens slip around very easy. Now you fill it ca. 1cm - 1,5cm with vermiculit and put your spice on top of that. Place a second "hang-in" screen at least 2cm above the spice and put ca. 5mm vermiculit on, the more the lower/slower the heat comes throug.
Now hold the flame of a torch lighter at the middle of the vermiculit and slowly start to inhale. The close the flame is to the vermi´, the hotter the air/thicker the vape.
The vermi will first absorb the spice till the heat is enough to evaporate.

Never had any problems this way, good luck!

I don't think vermiculite dust will be very good for your lungs.
mistakes were made

I have worked with vermiculite, the dust is terrible for you to breath.
Images of broken light,
Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

It wouldn't really be dusty if it was washed before hand. I don't see the vermiculite becoming more dusty with heat (it is made by super-heating minerals). Is it really that bad? Really, you're already inhaling foreign substances into your lungs.

Interesting doodad! I love my changa, though.

pretty bad, especially if it is contaminated with asbestos (which is not uncommon)

some shroom growers like to wear a mask when just working with the stuff (i'm not that cautious, but they do exist)

i see no reason OP couldn't do the same thing with a silicon carbide foam filter, which would be completely safe and inexpensive.

Oh! I was thinking it was pearlite!
I know pearlite is probably not much better than verm. Pearlite might work better, as it has a huge surface area. But you're right, silicon carbide would be better. I know some folks have short budgets, but at the same time, you get what you pay for.

Why spend so much on root bark, and other stuff, look for a deep experience and then make a pipe out of junk yard stuff? I don't mean to put anyone down, but the 30 bucks I spent on my glass bong was one of my favorite investments. There's pretty great attachments that could vape freebase for like 10 more dollars.

Of course you should wash the vermiculite before use to discart dust. I dont think it´s bat for the lungs because even when its fully glowing (without spice) there is not even a touch of smoke or taste . Its the best way of many ones I tried before: glass/ceramic globules, thick layers of screens, wounded electrolytic copper, steel wool, ash and even some different vapo-bowls, but non of this worked comparable to vermi.
I use this vermiculit for reptilian incubation and I dont think there´s asbest in (especially if youre living in the European Union where asbestos is strictly prohibited)
Just give it a try and enjoy!

those vapo-bowls are bunk, and that list looks pretty sub-par (seriously, try those filters i linked). if i were you i would make 100% sure inhaling heated verm doesn't have any negative health effects. you probably won't be able to confirm asbestos contamination, but apparently most asbestos comes from a montana vermiculite mine, and most of its production was sold to the US (so a european source is actually a good thing - even though asbestos is expressly forbidden in the US too).
steel wool is great for resting your DMT on, but i wouldn't use it as a vaporizer.

i guess if it ends up being safe (i still feel like the heat would break down micro-fibers which would be inhaled and not tasted - but this is pure speculation), and it works, then there is no reason not to do it but...

i still wouldn't. Razz

this got me thinking about a mock vg top

instead of the OPs suggested use of vermiculite, why not use sand or NaCl on top of some changa
