Hi everyone.

I have tried DMT a few times and every time I always struggle to keep my eyes open. The first time I took it, my friends around me were always saying to close my eyes but I saw with my eyes closed light spiralling over my body (I was seeing my body far away from me!) and then all light was eventually swollen by my rotating body. During these first trip every time I opened my eyes I saw some fantastic mind-blowing psichadelic allucinations of sound and visuals. Time seemed accellerated at times and then in slow motion!

The next times I did it I always make sure I don't smoke too much so that I can have eyes opened to see these things. I have seen persons turning into lizards, I have been inside a spaceship seeing "lego" people, saw some beings probaly aliens, but all this with eyes open.

However I think that I may be afraid of what lies in the dark and maybe I'm stuck to the open-eye effects and loosing the "dark side" experience.
What do you guys have to say about:
Do you prefer open or closed eyes.
How would you describe the effects with open and closed eyes.

Thanks a lot!!

I don't have a whole lot of open eye experience. Most of my doses are closed eye, some don't matter if my eyes are open cause my eyes end up closing anyways. I have read quite a few times of members describing some fantastic open eye experiences that make mine see pretty low grade. I've never seen fully formed objects or entity's appear or people shape shifting into other things ect. I did see my ceiling open up into another dimension kind of.

My last dose was fairly large and I came out early which caused me to have the strongest open eye visuals I have ever seen. Although they weren't of the type of things you talk of.

I personally think most of the real magic happens under closed eye conditions. But with a big enough dose it doesn't matter if your eyes are open or not. It will be a closed eye experience regardless.

I can't say for sure but I think the real meaningful experiences are with your eyes closed. Unless your just looking for cool colors and things to look at, then I would say DMT isn't for that.

I don't think it really matters if your eyes are open or closed once you hit a certain dosage. I have experienced seeing the same visions regardless of whether my eyes were open or closed, even at a sub breakthrough dose, say 20-25mg.

At lower doses is when it matters, personally I think it is the best in pitch black but I like to mix it up. I will leave the light on and start by covering my closed eyes with my hands then after a while take my hands off but still keep my eyes closed then I will just barely open them, it makes for some neat visuals that are very different from one another.

Up until just recently, clyde had the hardest time keeping his eyes closed during the experience. they'd always just fall back open, reflexes clyde guesses. Mmmmm but with eyes closed takes clyde to the furthest vistas of his mind. Clyde loves you DMTLove Love Love

from my exp there is an difference
if eyes open somehow i stay here and the focus of the eyes is keeping me here
when i have closed eyes its total different and i can "travel"
pitch black is also better for pineal gland as it is sensitive to light

This is what I was thinking as well, I would never call it a breakthrough experience without coming to this level where you get total flooding of vision and are totally lost.

Though it depends a little bit what you want, as people mention, with closed eyes I believe I use my "antenna"/third/mind's eye and with eyes open I get "expanded consciousness vision" or whatever I should call it. I see energies (even soundwaves at times), breathing, morphing, "transparent reality" etc. but the main experience is for me not located in this realm of existence and hence is best percieved either in full breakthrough or with the "antenna" Big grin

I get ayahuasca-like visions with changa and open eyes though, if I smoke some consecutive low dose hits and trip more than the initial ~15 minutes. Visions I consider to be more a form of communication, getting showed things.

Just because your eyes are closed doesn't make it dark. If you do it in a well-lit room, facing a light source, it will most likely be pretty bright and vibrant in your closed-eye vision.

I've always been an open eyed psychonaut, but like previously stated, at high doses it doesnt seem to make a difference.

I closed my eyes last time and was blown away.So I think I'm gonna experiment with closed eyes more in the future.
I am completely convinced that there is a wealth of information built into us, with miles of intuitive knowledge tucked away in the genetic material of every one of our cells. Something akin to a library containing uncountable reference volumes, but without any obvious route of entry. And, without some means of access, there is no way to even begin to guess at the extent and quality of what is there. The psychedelic drugs allow exploration of this interior world, and insights into its nature. - Shulgin

I definitely think closed eyes if you want to go deep, is it possible to break through with open eye visuals? one of my favourite closed eye visuals was on a beach with mushrooms, with the bright sunlight shining through my eye lids i could see all my red blood cells whizzing through my eye lids, amazing experience!Thumbs up

I think it has more to do with what your focusing on. If my eyes are open I find myself trying to stay grounded to reality, with my eyes closed my imagination is more open to its own visuals. I find it easier to relax and take in everything when my eyes are closed. But I know i've had a few high doses that my girl told me I was staring into her eyes, but as far as I was aware I never had them open.

I always preferred closed eyelids and over the summer I was able to to do it outside where the sunlight transported me to some Golden Temple. Definitely a lot more color with some background light but at a high enough dose it doesn't really matter

Although I have not broken through I have had doses up to 40mg both open and closed eyed... and I have to say I prefer eyes closed.

With my eyes open, after everything is done jumping out at me and splitting into multiple pieces, everything becomes one giant vibrating mass. I always explain it as if the room got filled with grey/clear liquid and really loud noise was blasting through it... Everything is vibrating like intense electricity was supercharging the whole room.

With my eyes closed however I would always get beautiful molten pits of pure color, and also I would be able to go much deeper into thought. With my eyes closed I always go "Hmm.." as if someone is telling me something... This is also the only time I get profound feelings, the feeling of "life" that cannot be put into words. A smack of the hands together is the best I can do to explain to people, it's like saying "That!" but there's no words to describe the feeling. Only with my eyes closed though...

Only once was it too intense with my eyes closed that I kept opening them (as well as jumping between my couch and chair attempting to get comfortable) Every time I closed my eyes the molten pit would appear only as a snapshot and would start falling in my vision... The experience of feeling like I was falling into my visuals is what forced my eyes open.

I've never come in contact with anything or even seen something that doesn't really exist in my room. I do not have a creative mind at all and I wonder if this is a reason. The closest I have come to "contact" is with closed eye experiences... The molten pit of color as I put it suddenly formed into a face very much like Alex Grey's interpretation, with one eye that formed and just silently looked at me, and then closed.

So my final verdict, eyes closed. Deeper experience and able to calm the mind and body easier to feel everything there is to feel.

If you can see jumping things, you should see entities or a continuous motion ZeroFlight, just close your eyes and wait enough.I've opened my eyes in the middle of the last trip somehow very hardly while I was lying on the bed, then I saw everyhing jumping and trying to reach me or catch me.And I've really believed even the pillow want to punch or catch&choke me.It's like everything around me are angry for I opened my eyes. Then I closed my eyes again with trying to watch my back(from psycho pillow or crazy blanket) and I saw a very fast changing, flashing collage of terrible visions.

thanks for your great and detailed answers. Your opinions convinced me to have one more smoke of it and close my eyes and wait Smile I'm left wondering if maybe what I saw was with eyes closed and I believe my eyes were open... Next experience will answer this question!
