Ok,
So swim extracted San Pedro using lye, sunflower oil, and vinegar and returned about 4.438 mg of mescaline acetate. thats seems like of return for what was used for extraction, about 3-4lbs of fresh cactus minus the core, which def means swim has A LOT of alkaloids. swim fan dried some, and used low heat and a fan to dry the rest. The fan dry came out ok swim guess's? It was yellows, definitely crystal formation on the glass and slightly waxy. The one using low heat came out brown on the outer rim area where it had a thinner layer. The center area of the dish where it was a thicker layer , it was a slightly domed dish, was sludgy and yellow. By the research swim has done swim feels the results seem pretty accurate? any thoughts, questions, or insights on my procedures or extraction descriptions are welcome.
So now for the topic swim is really looking for help with, an MEK alternative!! So swim used the extraction method he did b/c he lives in California and in this state it is fucking insanely easy to find chemicals!! I'm obviously being facetious! lol So swim has this mixed lump of mescaline acetate with obvious mass amounts of alkaloids and he would really like to clean and re-x for some pure mesc-acetate! swim doesn't really want to convert the acetate to HCL and then wash and re-x, but.... swim is kind of lazy at this point lol. What are his options? He's open to any and all options
TIA,
The Krazy One
Oh and ill add some pics from swims whole process in a little while so you guys can see what is what with the extraction and results

bummer, klean strip's web page says "substitute not for sale in california" lol looks like im probably going to end up having to convert my acetate to HCL so i can use acetone for the wash, or just order some mek online.... thanks for your help by the way!!

adding the impure mescaline to just enough water to get it disolved - filtration then flooding with acetone often gives just as pure product as an mek re-x. it is really fast too! after the mescaline that precipped is collected - the solution should be evaporated (this is where using minimal water helps) as some of the mesc will remain the proceedure can be repeated with this left over or, if one thinks the product is not pure enough - most times tho shiny clear hcl xtals fall from richly tinted liquid antrocles wrote:...purity of intent....purity of execution....purity of experience...

Yeah that does seem an awful high number! 4lb fresh cacti is like 100grams of dried flesh-max be prepared to loose weight as you purify

Phlux, I remember seeing a write up on that procedure but cant seem to relocate it now, would you happen to have a link for it? Id like to take another look at it, and that information posted up would help other people that were or are in my shoes, and looking for an alternative to MEK.
So for an update on my situation. I ended up taking a trip up to Humboldt county this weekend and found some MEK at an Ace hardware! I ended up buying everything they had (2 gallons). LOL I plan on making HCL next go around but def want enough MEK for any other future projects/extraction/synth that i may want to do!
