Mostly I wonder what chem, or solvent combination would be needed for seperating bufotenin(5-OH-DMT) from a mix with dmt and possibly 5 meo dmt in it?

And bonus question

What solvent or solvent combination would be needed for seperating 5-MEO-DMT from a mix with dmt and 5-MEO-DMT`?

Im intrested in this because the extracts from phalaris/pragmites would most likely contain those three. And just seperating one of those out would be something. Then one could test it with tlc test and see if it was pure(lot to learn before I can do that, but for now im just curious.)

zombie heptane should separate the dmt and 5-meo dmt from the bufotenine

separating the 5-meo-dmt from the dmt might be a little trickier
it's a sound

This is good news!! then one could use a gvg or something so the 5 meo doesnt get vaped. Good news indeed Smile thanks for answer.

Remember Benz linking some article on how seperating 5 meo from dmt was possible. im not sure there was s recommened solvent in there. Need to look around to see if I can find it.

Found the thread I was looking for

Thread: https://www.dmt-nexus.me...m=419927&#post419927

Gonna have a good read and see if I can decrypt it to laymens terms

Edit: Hehe was a little harder then I thought, gonna save for later

If somebody understand Benzymes paper and post, I would love if somebody could put it into laymens terms and what one would have to do in each step. Tried to understand, but its way out for to understand at this point. So if somebody wanna help, im all ears Very happy

There's isn't anything specific or detailed enough described in this thread and papers therein - what is discussed there is all theoretical, concluding that theoretically one could use a combination of solvents that would confer specificity of dmt over 5-meo. which solvents one could combine to get this and at which ratios is unknown.

You could play with pH, as shown in the graph below, given that the dmt/5meo mixture is relatively pure; the predicted optimum pH for getting most dmt and less 5meo is at pH=9, yet this approach is less than ideal as you'll be getting a mixture of 2 parts dmt and 1 part 5meo. You could pull dmt from pH of 8, but meh, it'd be tedious.

Thanks for answer! Smile Hmm, so its possible? but it needs experimentation?

So I guess toluene and ethyl acetate wouldnt do the job? Benz: "5-meO would be very easy to separate with these solvents"

saw this tek.

apparently its validity is in question, but i thought you might find it interesting, if you didn't catch it already.

I wouldn't really bother with that tek. It's likely not going to work out, even if it does its a whole lot of solvent for very little 5-meo-dmt.

People chatted about using preparitive TLC for this but wow who wants to make, run, and find a container for a TLC plate that's two feet long for a gram of material? Not me.

Benzymes idea sounds great but unless someone works out the solvent ratios the best bet is column chromatography. I'd really like to see some people experimenting on this.
