I'm just wondering how to go about extracting the main alkaloids from Heimia salicifolia. I have access to many specimens of this species.

The tea tastes as horrible as San Pedro tea, and in my experience is definitely not hallucinogenic, yet maybe a bit ataractic. That would be the only psychoactive effect I would ascribe to the tea. The literature seems to support my findings.

Fresh plant is what I meant by "many specimens" I've only ever tried the tea from plants I've grown. IMHO it's not worth drinking.

did you try letting the fresh leaves do a cw extract in the sun for a day?

i understand it wouldnt be cold water, but the point is that the water only gets as warm as the sun heats the vessel

assuming that glass is an innovation that indigenous didnt have in central america i assume any vessel would work well, perhaps an opaque/ light impenetrable one would be best (given its chance of being a modern mockery of the original practice)
