I like how it's such a concrete image, yet at the same time, the closer you look, the more intangible it gets. The squiddy baphomet thing invites association, but remains elusive no matter how hard you look. Tangible yet slippery, in a way that's very compelling.

Some great details in here. Border is awesome. Glowy clown balloon constructs are happy marshmallow alien goodness. Warpy head grid stuff is neat too. And the chain mail is a great means of subdividing and then distorting the visual plane.

Very different for you, Art, and quite interesting.

Yeah, the textures and reflections add a lot to the rendering.

The image immediately makes me think of H P Lovecraft.

Beautiful! Love the vibratory neon effect. I've been to places with similar colors- usually outdoor, daytime, sunny, eyes closed. Perhaps slivers of light entering through a cracked eyelid contribute the warm color...

Today my wacom intuos arrived, and I don't think I've ever been so excited. This is like the greatest tool any artist could hope for. Imean basically it's just an upgrade from a mouse to a pen, but the difference is like night and day, it's like pencil sketching except you can directly work with colors and have the benefit of layers and undo and whatnot. Thank you the nexus and especially Guyo otherwise I wouldn't even know these things exist. Here is a result of the first evening of sketching, it takes a bit to get used to but with practice I can definitely see this becoming like second nature and then the imagination is the only limit..

Nice daeda, I can't wait to see what you come up with. I was looking through your gallery and I was just being blown away. I love that one picture in particular with the tree and the river and the reflection of the sun in the river. There's just something about it between the colors, and the juxtaposition of form, repetition and curvature that really brings the whole thing to life.

Thats lovely Daeda...isn't that pad amazing? As it's a pressure and tilt pen, have a look at all the settings in the brush settings box (pshop)...many variables do incredible things with just one stroke of the pen...

I don't have one yet, but I would say it's on my wish list. Then again, I don't know how much more control it could actually give you than an Intuos 4 or 5.

Somewhat different and amateurish, but thought I'd share...

Crawling out of a hollow pulsating tree, the first entry I found to salvia land.

Daeda, that's quite charming. Nothing like getting screamed at from hyperspace! That's incidentally a very good first project for the intuos, get a feel for it by just painting. Expect about a week of regular use before you feel completely natural with it.

You may find that you still need a mouse for certain operations (I keep mine in the left hand position, and operate it lefty). For example, certain navigation controls in some 3D programs will cause your view to spin out of control if you use the tablet. Also, sensitive clicking-without-dragging stuff is easier to do with a mouse. You should be able to use the mouse and tablet together without making any control panell changes.

As far as the Cintiq goes, I do believe it could be a real improvement on control and sensitivity compared to other tablets. I've not yet used one but I worked with a group of other artists recently on a series of almost 500 online collaborations, done in mixed media but with heavy Photoshop use in most of them, including a lot of straightforward painting with the airbrush tool. One member in the group had a Cintiq, and his painting technique had a dimension to it that the rest of our work lacked. He raved about it, and delivered the work to prove it.

Even after using tablets for a decade and being very comfortable with them, I still don't like doing line drawings with them. There are just too many degrees of separation in the interface. With the Cintiq, one of these degrees of separation is eliminated so that you are essentially drawing directly on your file. That's pretty powerful. And I just paid off the IRS and can buy a tech toy. But I think a new Mac tower comes first before this clackety groaning old thing catches fire or seizes up.

From what I understand, Cintiqs are often on eBay in almost new condition.
