Is it possible to take over the counter MAO's instead of the caapi extract? I was thinking of using Mimosa Hostilis and maybe popping a couple MAO pills minutes before I drink it. Would that work? If so, what product do you recommend?

Just get some syrian rue and put it in capsules.

Or brew tea, having to purge up the ground up seeds isn't very nice.

I actually get more purgative effects from tea, not to mention that the taste is awful. But each to their own.

To answer the OP question, yes, pharmaceutical MAOIs could do the trick, BUT:

- You will lose any synergistic actions and other effects of the different alkaloids in Caapi or Rue, and that might impoverish the experience
- Keep in mind that most pharmaceutical MAOIs are non-reversible, hence have major dietary requirements and more potential for dangerous interactions.

If I was you, I would use caapi or rue, brewed or extracted. There's a few reasons why people prefer botanical MAOIs. But if you intend to explore other MAOI options, please have a look at the MAOI page in the wiki and if you want to use pharmacy MAOIs, stick to reversible MAOIs like moclobemide.

Moclobemide is one I know of off the top of my head.

Can be bought online I'm pretty sure.

It sounds a bit risky to me, i'd just get the traditional plants that have been used for thousands of years.

Here's a thread about a moclobemide experience with mimosa, seems pretty interesting. I'm just completely against man made chemicals, that's just me though. If you do choose to use mocleobemide i hope you have a great experience.

...regarding what I said of pharmaceutical reversible MAOIs vs. Caapi, you might find this post (and the thread overall) relevant.
