the only thing ive been able to watch on mesc was alice in wonderland and at 700mg hcl i saw that movie as my life, the book of genesis, the book of revelation, allegories to themes in my mind. it still astounds me and i feel that the movie is a masterful work of art because of how i saw it. id seen it twice before and liked it but never LOVED it like i did after that day.
i also read the egg coming up before the movie and tried explaining the meaning of life to my depressed father with that article
i watched the movie to come up to and other than that 1 experience have never been able to watch anything on a screen while more than slightly tripping
ive attatched the egg story for your enjoyment
The Egg
By: Andy Weir
You were on your way home when you died.
It was a car accident. Nothing particularly remarkable, but fatal nonetheless. You left behind a wife and two children. It was a painless death. The EMTs tried their best to save you, but to no avail. Your body was so utterly shattered you were better off, trust me.
And thatβs when you met me.
βWhatβ¦ what happened?β You asked. βWhere am I?β
βYou died,β I said, matter-of-factly. No point in mincing words.
βThere was aβ¦ a truck and it was skiddingβ¦β
βYup,β I said.
βIβ¦ I died?β
βYup. But donβt feel bad about it. Everyone dies,β I said.
You looked around. There was nothingness. Just you and me. βWhat is this place?β You asked. βIs this the afterlife?β
βMore or less,β I said.
βAre you god?β You asked.
βYup,β I replied. βIβm God.β
βMy kidsβ¦ my wife,β you said.
βWhat about them?β
βWill they be all right?β
βThatβs what I like to see,β I said. βYou just died and your main concern is for your family. Thatβs good stuff right there.β
You looked at me with fascination. To you, I didnβt look like God. I just looked like some man. Or possibly a woman. Some vague authority figure, maybe. More of a grammar school teacher than the almighty.
βDonβt worry,β I said. βTheyβll be fine. Your kids will remember you as perfect in every way. They didnβt have time to grow contempt for you. Your wife will cry on the outside, but will be secretly relieved. To be fair, your marriage was falling apart. If itβs any consolation, sheβll feel very guilty for feeling relieved.β
βOh,β you said. βSo what happens now? Do I go to heaven or hell or something?β
βNeither,β I said. βYouβll be reincarnated.β
βAh,β you said. βSo the Hindus were right,β
βAll religions are right in their own way,β I said. βWalk with me.β
You followed along as we strode through the void. βWhere are we going?β
βNowhere in particular,β I said. βItβs just nice to walk while we talk.β
βSo whatβs the point, then?β You asked. βWhen I get reborn, Iβll just be a blank slate, right? A baby. So all my experiences and everything I did in this life wonβt matter.β
βNot so!β I said. βYou have within you all the knowledge and experiences of all your past lives. You just donβt remember them right now.β
I stopped walking and took you by the shoulders. βYour soul is more magnificent, beautiful, and gigantic than you can possibly imagine. A human mind can only contain a tiny fraction of what you are. Itβs like sticking your finger in a glass of water to see if itβs hot or cold. You put a tiny part of yourself into the vessel, and when you bring it back out, youβve gained all the experiences it had.
βYouβve been in a human for the last 48 years, so you havenβt stretched out yet and felt the rest of your immense consciousness. If we hung out here for long enough, youβd start remembering everything. But thereβs no point to doing that between each life.β
βHow many times have I been reincarnated, then?β
βOh lots. Lots and lots. An in to lots of different lives.β I said. βThis time around, youβll be a Chinese peasant girl in 540 AD.β
βWait, what?β You stammered. βYouβre sending me back in time?β
βWell, I guess technically. Time, as you know it, only exists in your universe. Things are different where I come from.β
βWhere you come from?β You said.
βOh sure,β I explained βI come from somewhere. Somewhere else. And there are others like me. I know youβll want to know what itβs like there, but honestly you wouldnβt understand.β
βOh,β you said, a little let down. βBut wait. If I get reincarnated to other places in time, I could have interacted with myself at some point.β
βSure. Happens all the time. And with both lives only aware of their own lifespan you donβt even know itβs happening.β
βSo whatβs the point of it all?β
βSeriously?β I asked. βSeriously? Youβre asking me for the meaning of life? Isnβt that a little stereotypical?β
βWell itβs a reasonable question,β you persisted.
I looked you in the eye. βThe meaning of life, the reason I made this whole universe, is for you to mature.β
βYou mean mankind? You want us to mature?β
βNo, just you. I made this whole universe for you. With each new life you grow and mature and become a larger and greater intellect.β
βJust me? What about everyone else?β
βThere is no one else,β I said. βIn this universe, thereβs just you and me.β
You stared blankly at me. βBut all the people on earthβ¦β
βAll you. Different incarnations of you.β
βWait. Iβm everyone!?β
βNow youβre getting it,β I said, with a congratulatory slap on the back.
βIβm every human being who ever lived?β
βOr who will ever live, yes.β
βIβm Abraham Lincoln?β
βAnd youβre John Wilkes Booth, too,β I added.
βIβm Hitler?β You said, appalled.
βAnd youβre the millions he killed.β
βIβm Jesus?β
βAnd youβre everyone who followed him.β
You fell silent.
βEvery time you victimized someone,β I said, βyou were victimizing yourself. Every act of kindness youβve done, youβve done to yourself. Every happy and sad moment ever experienced by any human was, or will be, experienced by you.β
You thought for a long time.
βWhy?β You asked me. βWhy do all this?β
βBecause someday, you will become like me. Because thatβs what you are. Youβre one of my kind. Youβre my child.β
βWhoa,β you said, incredulous. βYou mean Iβm a god?β
βNo. Not yet. Youβre a fetus. Youβre still growing. Once youβve lived every human life throughout all time, you will have grown enough to be born.β
βSo the whole universe,β you said, βitβs justβ¦β
βAn egg.β I answered. βNow itβs time for you to move on to your next life.β
And I sent you on your way.
