Recently there has come in alot of newcomers into the off topic/hyperspace chat due to the promotion button(Good for sure). But it has created alot of problems in chat(from my view). Like not respecting the mature language attitude, general bad behavior.


So my suggestion would be a secondary promotion system. After full promotion, they are only allowed to welcome area chat. And when proven they can manage the general attitude of the chat. they are promoted to the rest of the chat.

To be clear, they ALWAYS has a right to welcome area. With or without promotion with this system

But you know we can take the chat rights away from any promoted member if they misbehave in the chat.

The current way puts less stress on the very busy Traveler and more stress on the (many of us!) mods.

I think its fine as is. if people are becoming a problem, there are a number of ways to deal with it

we get to help people who need immediate feedback or are in some sort of emergency (i.e. bad trip, extractions etc) and we also get to know them much faster and in real-time through the chat. so i think its good that new members can come into the welcome area of the chat and i think we'd loose a lot if we take that away

Thats true, but it can cause problems to. due to the good nature of the folks in the chat, we are so forgiving. and the same thing happen over and over again. like three warning then demotion.

I rather see 5 behaving folks get promoted to full chat then 30 with 8 misbehaving, and get 3 warnings til demotion.

Like folks who post messed up pics in tripping area, and then forgiven. then they do the same thing again(with no mod around to kick them, so the daily users of the chat has to stand out with it, til they can get demoted or warned a second time.)

Its less work with a secondery promotion system, since the mods dont have to keep up with the misbehaving users warnings til demotion.





Univese: also the welcome area is great for that, since alot of folks also is in there to help them. They could still get that live help they need. TO be clear, they always has a right to welcome area. promotion or not
