HELLO! I have a nerve / muscle problem with my back, as the result of an occupational injury. DMT / ayahuasca seems to act as a nerve stimulant…. Ie: increased muscle tone at rest, increased nervous activity. This is fine for someone without a nerve problem. But if you already have a nerve problem like I do, where the nerves are agitated even under normal circumstances, then further nerve agitation, such as dmt can provide, will result in increased nerve pain, increased muscle contraction of the agitated area, which may result in inflammation of the agitated area, which may further result in muscle and nerve pain (a negative feedback loop). I was just wondering if there is any way to avoid this muscle / nerve problem. I’ve tried some muscle relaxants, and I guess they work somewhat…. But I was wondering if there is anything specific that may relax the hypertensive muscle effect of dmt, while retaining the psychedelic quality? THANKS!

Some hypotensive (anti-hypertension) herbs include Ashwagandha root (Withania somnifera)
Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea) , Chrysanthemum morifolium, and Gotu Cola.
nen888 is telling me he found evidence NMT reduces muscular/chronic back pain. So, a bit of NMT with the DMT may help. Acacia confusa.
Wish you well Apoc.

^..yes, NMT is in a patent for treatment of chronic back pain, but i don't have details (patent pending)
..having suffered from back pain in the past, i can say that during any kind of dmt/nmt mix, it seems to go for the duration, but obviously a bit more data is needed before confirming this theory..can't hurt to try..

hey, yeah I work out. The back pain is really only a problem with oral dmt because it lasts longer. The back pain will be minimized if I exercise during the come up. Sometimes I am forced to exercise during the trip because the movement helps it. Staying still seem to force uncomfortable contractions.

That is very interesting about nmt. I hope it becomes available as a legal treatment for pain. It's interesting. Ayahuasca seems to have both a pain dulling, yet also pain increasing effect. If the nmt decreases pain, but at the same time, something about ayahuasca can irritate muscles or nerves (that are already aggravated).

Check out dr stuart mcgills books and seminars on back health... i used too have huge nerve pain issues from a herniated disc but after studying his research i have found ways to figure out my issues.

Almost all back pain are from underlying postural and muscular imbalances, even if you suffer from nerve impinchments or sciatia issues fixing all the soft tissue around the area will help you get better.

All I can find on this is that 'NMT' as regards back pain refers to Neuromodulatory (or Neuromuscular) Massage Therapy. This is surely a good thing!

I just typed "NMT chronic back pain" into google to find this out. Moral: always check your sources!

Of course, this doesn't in itself mean that N-methyl tryptamine can't help with back pain. At the moment, I simply don't know. It would be great to find out because my back pain is killing me! If it works, NMT (compound) would be cheaper than NMT (massage)... but I suspect the two would be highly complementary Smile

“There is a way of manipulating matter and energy so as to produce what modern scientists call 'a field of force'. The field acts on the observer and puts him in a privileged position vis-à-vis the universe. From this position he has access to the realities which are ordinarily hidden from us by time and space, matter and energy. This is what we call the Great Work."

This is interesting. I just smoked 75% weed 25% DMT enhance leaf and I got a huge ball of pain at the base of my skull. I had an injury there a couple years ago and it hasn't been 100% since. Smoking really got it going. I was taking a leak in the restroom and closed my eyes and saw neon, pulsing, leaves and other shapes while this ball of pain seared a spike through my neck into my head.

I'll be trying NMT with this sometime though and see how that goes.
Oh my god. I broke it. I broke reality.

Heavy smoked DMT sessions can leave my shoulders and back feeling extremely tired and heavy, sort of painful. I find this goes away after I've come down for awhile. Certainly smoking some MJ and taking a benzo helps (I have a script). Sometimes I will take pain relievers, though, like APAP (easy on the stomach) or generic Aleve).

Apoc, I think that this is, to some degree a mental problem. I also have some chronic pain, and sometimes during a trip, it would come up. The pain would then swell to gigantic proportions...but i believe that it's part of the trip and the relatively small amount of pain you're feeling gets blown out of proportions. I'd love to have a remedy against this, so i'll be watching this thread as well.
