Well, I think one of the effects of Medical MJ has been that people have seen that it can be sold openly and the world didn't end, so that made it easier for this to be seen as OK. So hopefully when other states see in a few years that the world did not end for CO and WA they will have an easier time of it. I think at some point there will be a snowball effect across a lot of states and the Feds will have to just deal with it due to shear numbers.

What they will do next though, that's what I'm wondering.

I always like thinking about the political incentives behind these things. Who's winning and who's losing. The people are winning, but I wonder how much prison corporations and drug gangs will push back.

to my knowledge, the vast majority of colorado's weed was grown by peace-loving hippies in humboldt.

as for pushing back, i am not sure what course of action they can take, people are becoming more and more informed on the drug war, which has been losing ground steadily for years.

call me an optimist, but this seems to be very much the beginning of the end (the begending).

yeah, think of how much it destroys people lives, WE get jailed for nothing! i dont know, i dont want to get in the way for drug gangs, but having doors closed just for smoking marihuana, wich is a natural green plant. wich doesnt have that much negative effects especially when it gets to comparing with alcohol.. thats just awesome!! and then again most big offical persons is scared of talking good of cannabis. because they will be seen as a bad person...

^^^ Sweet jeebus, that would be something!

I smoked some the other day. It was the first time after it was legalized here in WA. At first my usual paranoid self wanted to close the curtains, then I thought, "Wait! I can do this standing in the window staring out into the road! Ha!"

So I did.Big grin

It really amazes me that Arizona has medical marijuana.

Its a super conservative state.

News is reporting Obama as saying the federal government has more important things to do than arrest individual users and won't be taking action against these laws. His concerns are children and violence, in relation to drugs. DOJ is expected to put out more official rules/statements relatively soon, ~month.

Although not going after individual users is delightful, in the past this approach has still brought unnecessary intimidation tactics and similar techniques against legal (lawful? state law) entities providing services to the individuals. Such as forcing closure of Medical Marijuana dispensaries by intimidating building/land owners and otherwise making the legal status very much a grey area. I look forward to hearing how the DOJ will respond to the questions being raised by the states and hope the future of medicine and personal freedoms continues to move towards a healthy society.

VIII, sounds good doesn't it? But since when did the feds ever mess with individual users? Let's hope he isn't trying to get all semantical on us...
