Hey all.. Very strange thing happened last night before bed. Seriously shook me to my core. I was not on any drugs, of any kind. Drank water and ginger ale for most of the day. Ate a ham sandwich for lunch, and had pizza for dinner. Nothing out of the ordinary. Although, how synchronous for this to happen the night that I make my account here on DMT-nexus! hah!

First of, let me say this. I have always been able to see very faint geometric shapes and patterns whenever I close my eyes. Not sure if that's just me, or if its very common. I like to focus in on these patterns from time to time, and try to enter a meditative state. Last night I began to focus on these patterns and they became VERY vivid and intense, I started to see/experience an AMAZINGLY vibrant blue, orange, and red glowing dragon enveloping my soul with its liquid like body. I have never seen colors this vibrantly and before. The experience was very real, but in the back of my mind, I knew it was just my imagination... then again, what is your imagination? Wink haha.

At this point, when things started to get very visual. The most amazing thing happened. I could feel myself becoming very attached to the experience, and almost wanting to BE there. This intense focus and desire is what I believe to be the cause of what happened next.

I'm not sure if this was the beginning of an Astral Projection or a Hyperspace trip. It could have easily been one or the other. I do not have much experience with Astral Projection, but I do know the basic ideas of it, and have tried before, with success up until things start getting very strange, then I freak out and crash into my body. Anyways, I experienced an INTENSE body load, almost exactly the same as when taking DMT. A very loud, high pitched ringing became present in my left ear, as I could feel myself literally falling into the hyperspace realm. I began to FREAK out because I did not know this was possible. I truly believe I educed a DMT-like trip someway, somehow. The second I realized this was ridiculously wild, I began to force myself out of the trip until I was able to understand what had happened. I lay motionless for the next 10 or so minutes contemplating everything that had just occurred. I'm starting to think this whole December 21 thing might have some sort of meaning... Or I might just be going bonkers lol! Its like my brain was secreting dmt, but I was still conscious enough to experience its effects. man. so confused Confused

I would love for you guys to comment your thoughts on this. Very confused and quite honestly, kind of freaked out haha.

Yup, I have nice kaleidoscopic light shows on the inside of my eyelids sometimes, beautiful colors that are difficult to describe. On rare occasions when I'm tired and in a dark room, they will sometimes become OEVs. I've learned to enjoy these things over the years for their beauty and complexity.

I've experienced, from your description, essentially the same thing you have. You don't need me to tell you this, obviously, but yes it's possible to have very profound trip-like experiences without ingesting anything. The falling feeling is very familiar to me, and to several other people whom I've described this phenomenon to.

Basically, I think, the only thing standing in the way of having an experience like this is the belief that "this is ordinary reality, nothing unusual can happen." Of course, reality, the fact that anything exists at all, is the strangest, most far out trip of them all! Once you call the bluff of the "mundane, every day reality" belief, very interesting things can happen. Even "sober ego loss," which I made a thread about somewhere on the Nexus.

Anyway, just in case you're anything like me, I want to remind you to relax. After an experience like you describe happened to me the first time, it set the stage for a lot of anxiety, leading up to, after an LSD trip, a month of panic attacks. I was terrified that I would be sucked "out of my body" at any moment, having realized that ordinary reality isn't what we think it is. If there's any kind of fear like this, I recommend you relax into it and not fight it or try to suppress it. In some ways, it's like coming to terms with death, because everything we know can come to an end at any time. But, with some relaxation, one can turn the anxiety into fascination and excitement that anything is happening at all to begin with. Big grin

Thanks for your reply Smile Yeah, after it happened, I was VERY afraid to go back to sleep, thinking I could be sucked out of reality at any moment lol. Then I realized that that is quite alright, because im not really sure about my stance on what reality is anyways haha. I just came to accept that shit is really weird, and i'm in for the ride Smile Woke up feeling great, and ready to enjoy every moment of whatever this is Smile Might try and break down reality again tonight!

Sounds like sleep paralysis to me, definitely read up on that. I always get it waking up from a dream, but a lot of people get it falling asleep into one... and I think that's what might have happened for you. Especially the high-pitched carrier wave tone which is pretty much what you hear both on DMT and right before sleep paralysis kicks in.

sure psychadelics do wider the horizon on visual phenomenon that we can observe in our daily lives such as hppd , visual floaters , seeing with the minds eye , hypnagogic imagery ,(all of these are different visual phenomenon one can observe without needing any psychadelic)

yet a true psychadelic trip of true intensity and duration only happens whilst consuming a psychadelic of any kind , otherwise sober we can only observe the above mentioned visual phenomenons to various degrees , yet in a dreams we can experience psychadelics much more easily without consuming anything in reality, yet it lacks detail , duration and in intensity

only in waking reality and after consuming a psychadelic of any nature we can taste the true experience ,

without any consumption if a psychonaut comes to observe some psychadelic phenomenon it is just that a visual phenomenon , not a true experience , thus this distinction should always be known otherwise it can lead to anxiety sometimes to those venturing and adventuring into these areas of the psyche and soul ( i used to get quite anxious when i just started doing psychadelics and noticed these phenomenons )

also there is sleep paralysis yet i have hardly any experience with that maybe a few times
illusions !, there are no illusions
there is only that which is the truth

There's nothing to worry about!...Probably. You just entered a psychedelic mind state. The molecules that induce such a state aren't necessarily the only way to get the brain to work in such a way.

I used to take naps during my lunch breaks. I did this the other day, actually. I enter a meditative state, usually fighting the loss of consciousness into sleep. This state is very psychedelic, often with fairly vibrant closed eye visuals, and a head change. Usually I can't get very far into this psychedelic state, since when it starts working I get excited and lose my focus. Many times, when I open my eyes there are some open eye visuals, as well. Everything will have that wavy sheen to it, much like tripping. This has always gone away within a minute of opening my eyes.

Often, if I've been having some DMT, I notice my dreams are pixelated, similar to tripping. It could just be that you were in the right frame of mind, the right sleepiness, the right chemistry, and so on for this to happen. If it starts happening uncontrollably, lay off the psychedelics.
Be an adult only when necessary.

Ive been reading up on sleep paralysis this whole morning. I believe that is what may have happened. Although it wasnt so much that I couldn't move, it was just a very strange body load. Might have been something related to astral projection. Im very happy to know that many people experience this. What I find interesting Is that I have absolutely no experience with psychedelic substances , other than a very strange dmt trip about a month ago. I agree Mr.Peabody, I think I was just in the right state of mind for this to happen. Thanks for clearing this up guys, really appreciate it Smile Hopefully I will be able to further explore this phenomena in the coming days.

I believe that all of the states of mind that we experience on psychedelics are also available to us without them. It's a lot of work getting there though for most people.

With this attitude, you will go far! Cool

I like to think of life, psychedelic trips included, as a wild, wild roller coaster ride. Some people are peeing their pants or puking over the side, but then there are the guys with their hands in the air and big goofy smiles on their faces saying, "More! More! How weird can this thing get?? C'mon!" (That's most of the people here on the Nexus I think. Big grin )

This is the only way to exist, in my opinion. Enjoying the ride is the point of the ride!

Haha this reminded me of a very similar experience I had! I had a DMT experience where I was laying on a bed, and right before I blasted off, I reached up to turn the fan off. For some reason, with the fan being the last thing I saw, it was in my trip the whole time. In fact it was really the basis of my whole trip. Just a few weeks after that I was laying in my own bed trying to go to sleep, when the sound of the fan had triggered something in my brain, and I had a full on DMT trip. It was very intense and I was quite scared since I hadn't actually done any DMT, but it seemed a little familiar and once I accepted what was going on, it went very smoothly and I was actually kind of disappointed when it ended! Haha I have no idea how this happened, but it was quite remarkable!
One love evol enO

Sounds amazing Smile I havent been able to experience a full DMT like trip yet because I loose focus once I reach the threshold. I am POSITIVE that it is waiting for me on the other side though...this is becoming a nightly occurrence purely by choice... I mean, in all seriousness, what i'm experiencing is like a brain orgasm that lasts for about 20 seconds until I flip sh*t. All you really have to do is stop thinking, and focus on leaving your body. You can actually tell whatever this is, to "take it easy" on you, and it will. Yes, very remarkable.

Literally just went and did it twice in a row, this time using bi natural beats. Lied down on the bed, dim lights. Removed all thought from my brain, focused on the darkness in my eyes, and boom, it started. Intense body load. The visuals were much more intense during the second try. Looked like a very dark hyperspace tunnel with blue, organic, living light blobs flying by me, both times I felt like I was experiencing the world/void of pure consciousness.

*disclaimer: my neurochemical knowledge is less than cursory - take with a grain of salt*

i know that LSD is metabolized at approximately the same rate as DMT (~15 mins), so it is possible that when it agonizes your 5-HT2 receptors it catalyzes some sort of endogenous psychedelic state(?). as it is fully metabolized before you feel its effects

it seems to make the ram dass anecdote make a little more sense
Quote:
One famous story involves a couple of occasions when Alpert gave his guru LSD. The first time, Alpert later recounted, Baba took 900 micrograms of very pure LSD over four times the normal dose. "He allowed me to stay for an hour," Alpert later recalled, "-and nothing happened. Nothing." The second time, Baba took 1200 micrograms - and again nothing happened. Baba's verdict on the drug was "LSD is good for the world, but not spiritual . . . . LSD is not the true samadhi (state of meditative unity)."

though it seems weird how he can say nothing happened, yet describe the spirituality of the experience...

Parshvik Chintan, not sure if I understand your point exactly... wish I could lol, been studying all day, Brain + Sleepy = no bueno lmao. What im getting out of your post is that dmt kinda manifests itself in the brain and re-activates under different circumstances than being smoked ect. ?

LSD is out of your system before you feel it.

therefore it is reasonable to assume the brain can produce mystic states endogenously right? (i.e. the LSD catalyzes something your brain can already do)

granted this is all conjecture.

..i have had this a number of times, and, to be totally honest the past few weeks has been like being on very mild dmt all the time..
i have had dreams in which i smoke a pipe and a full blown dmt experience occurs! so it's all there inside, somewhere..
i would not worry (unless you're feeling physically ill) and see it as a gift and blessing..
an opportunity to see further..

i think also, once the body 'understands' the ingested DMT experience, it can start to work out how to keep that equilibrium 'stable'..it IS afterall usually a helpful sate to be in..unless you're on a bus, or in a post office line, or giving a lecture..
it could, however assist in dealing with the police or superior officers, if you just keep it together and don't stare too much at them..!Smile

only if it's stopping practical work, or getting persistent every waking hour would i be concerned..
in that case, btw, PM me..

i think you're ok..

This happens to me all the time. This even happened to me when I was a little kid at night sometimes. It's weird and only happens when on the verge of sleep for me..where I get the geometric grids and stuff.

I can also get faint DMT like patterns if I sit out in full sun and do medative breathing with the sun shining bright against my eyelids. Thats also a great way to smoke DMT btw.

don't be confused or freaked out, its all good. it happens to me to, especially at night

lately though after a few seconds of focus i can put myself in a state very similar to lower-end doses of dmt. if you work at it and meditate it can go deeper and can be very joyful, although for me its more like aya than just dmt

<Ringworm>hehehe, it's all fun and games till someone loses an "I"
