Until I started lurking here a while ago, I always heard "spice" refer to posh, synthetic weed that puts holes in your head. That's what all the cats I know in person call it. I assume DMT got the nickname first, but isn't that annoying?

If most people understand "spice" to mean posh, do you still use it for DMT?

I often hear people on here referring to DMT as "spice" and I was wondering if it is the same as what they used to sell in the gas station?

I used to buy this stuff that everyone referred to as spice that was sold as potpourri.

Spice is a Dune reference

it has nothing to do with the dodgy gas station substances.

no, it's not the same thing. the spice that you are referring to was synthetic cannabinoids afaik.

DMT is referred to as elf-spice or simply spice, but where this originated I don't know. Is it a reference to Frank Herbert's novel Dune? or is that just a coincidence? perhaps someone else can elaborate...

Ahh thank you guys. I was wondering because I have smoked that awful substance before and nearly had a heart attack.

I was also wondering because I feel as though I can enter hyperspace with cannabis and I thought maybe if spice had DMT in it then it was possible that smoking it triggered that within me or something.

I have never smoked DMT but I feel like I can enter what you guys describe as hyperspace, on somewhat of a limited basis. I feel like I can navigate it fairly easy but it is not as intense as most of you describe. I can talk with beings and such and I retain much of what I learn while I am there.

I've used it maybe once in person, they knew what I was talking about because we smoke real weed. Wouldn't touch that synthetic pot. It's like the only nickname I have for dmt when I want to be inconspicuous.

believe it or not i've never actually heard the term "posh" before used for synthetic weed

some still call dmt spice but it mostly died off once synthetic weed became so popular

the term "spice" for dmt originally came from brilliant science fiction book Dune, which i highly recommend btw!

The term 'Posh' (meaning upperclass over here) derives from 'Port Out Starboard Home'

nope, not nearly as annoying as 'deems' or 'deemsters'.

carnyel,
I have entered hyperspace many times with weed. I don't do it very often, so when I do, man is it strong. I think having done psychedelics opened my mind to be able to enter hyperspace with weed, as I don't remember it being like that when I was younger. I think weed is often overlooked as a legitimate psychedelic. Terrence McKenna even said the best way to do weed was a ton at a time, in a dark quiet room, and only occasionally. He also said he barely ever did this, since he loved weed so much every day. Razz

I think I heard that synthetic shit is no longer allowed to be sold. Is that right? I remember being confused about the spices when I first got into DMT. I think spice is a fitting name for it, so we should take it back! I even keep mine in little glass vials with cork stoppers, like the precious spice it is.

I say we take back the word Spice for what it was first, the beautiful, mysterious chemical that is dmt. Everyone should stop referring to those synthetic cannabinoids as spice. I used to occasionally refer to dmt as deemsters or dimitri, but it just seems so silly and stupid. Spice or elf spice just sounds right for some reason, and I've never even seen Dune. I might have to check it out sometime Cool

I find you there, your arms surround me, your spirit fills me and it grounds me.
I look to you, Lady of Truth, most ancient One, yet eternal youth,to keep me safe, protect my heart, and with the wisdom you impart, fill up my empty mind and soul,so that, my Lover, you can make whole, all that was broken in this day –and that is what I ask and pray.

..if you haven't read the Dune series is, to me, like never having heard Jimi Hendrix..
myself and the legendary Arthur C. Clarke both rate the Dune series 'beyond Tolkein'..!

the Spice is a rare substance which expands consciousness, leads to visions, helps to see the future, and 'jump' from one point in space to another..

wars are fought to control it..

ps. the Movie is a disaster..it makes no sense..it's too deep and multi-level a book to turn into a flick..!
