Hi uftusaf123, just wanted to say hi and welcome, I'm a former military person myself. Good to see some mention about the varied reasons for doing the job. As for me I really just liked the physicality of it. I never was idealistic about it, surprisingly few of my colleagues were actually. Just a job really. Air Force One, really? How's that? Seems like a high-expectation assignment, not to mention a highly scrutinized one.

Hey thanks! Smile What branch were you in? SWIM finds it very demanding, and agrees that it is absolutely a high-expectation assignment. SWIM also takes every precaution to keep his own view points on these issues to a minimum while on the job. He appreciates the benefits of the military life, but is really only in for the adventure. How he got the job is anyone's guess, apparently they had a slot open and he got lucky by having a great recruiter.

Welcome man, I'm a retired Marine myself. Hope you enjoy it around here!
I live in Aruba with Elvis and Makaveli. We produce sick beats all day and make up silly stories on the internet. All of my stories are fictitious, must be all the second hand pot smoke from Tupac.

I don't want to talk down to you, but give you advice. I am a little bit older than you, and have close to a decade under my belt doing a similar thing. I'm since out, partially due to the reasons nen888 gave. Be very, very careful with what you say or do. I don't mean to make you paranoid, but some things you've said could get you put in federal/military prison. Luckily, there's really no linking you to the words, since anyone could have posed as you on the internet. I mean mostly, be careful who you talk to about this face to face. Word has a way of spreading without any effort at all.

Just be absolutely careful. If caught, weed is about the only thing they'll let go, if your lucky. You seem bright, so I'm sure you'll be ok, if you're careful. I hate to see anyone caught in their snares.

I see where you're coming from, about duty to country and the people. I felt the same as you, at the exact same age. Psychedelics helped me to deprogram what I'd been told my whole life. They showed me how I was simply a tool for the imperialist, military industrial complex designs, and I realized didn't want to be a part of it any longer. One thing to notice is how much money they waste. I saw more money evaporate than I'll ever see in my entire life, probably times ten. If it comes to it, I'll gladly do what I can to end an oppressive regime, but from this side of the line.

I know you're quite new, and have a lot to look towards. You've made a big commitment. Maybe one day you'll change how you think about it, but I could very well be wrong in my thinking, too. The only one that can figure it out for you, is you. Just listen to your heart and soul, and you should do fine.

Welcome to the nexus, it's a useful, insightful, and unbelievably interesting.

I can relate to that, it was like fusion, infatuation and warmth, all so much love I cried a bit with humility.

Thank you for your incredibly insightful and thought provoking post Mr.Peabody. I am well aware of the consequences of these types of thoughts and ideas. I am bleeding in shark infested waters so to speak. I keep a very low profile on the internet and take every security precaution that is available to me. I have only been able to discuss these ideas about life and psychedelics with no more than 3 very close people in my life. That being said, I do not stay fully quiet. I like to slowly provoke thoughts in my friends and fellow service members which promote deep thinking and self exploration. But, I do not scream it off the top of the highest mountain either haha.

As far as being a part of the military industrial complex goes, I agree with all of that. I am a part of something I do not necessarily support. I intend on serving my 4 years active and 4 reserve, then moving on to more studious and creative life goals.

Thank you for your wise words friend. Defiantly made me think about things quite a bit.

Thank you nen888 Smile I think a whole variety of people are beginning to discover these substances! The internet is a great resource for knowledge, as more and more people use it, the more people will begin to learn (:

I am beginning to think more and more folks are taking an interest in psychedelics, too. I'm still not sure, but it seems like it. I've been thoroughly shocked at how many people I know from a military background are into this type of thing. I thought I was the only one in my circle, but then come to find out I know a lot of people now who are into it and are/were in the military.

The strange thing is, I made the leap to ask some people if they were, and I haven't been wrong yet. I can see it in people, somehow. It's like they have a sheen to them, a little glimmer of knowledge from seeing that there's something more.

Are we on the verge of another psychedelic revolution? Hopefully now that we have elders from the 60's and 70's to guide us, we can be more useful with it.

I believe we are on the verge of one, yes. I have been talking with old highschool friends and they say the whole school is buzzing with talk of DMT. I just hope it doesn't explode TOO quickly. I would hate to see this amazing "secret" so to speak, turn into another teen party drug. This stuff can really mess with the way you perceive the world... as all of you know. I am somewhat afraid of a whole bunch of kids with no information on DMT at all, having a bunch of bad trips and causing a whole bunch of negative attention.

..they find 'targets', weapons facilities, training bases etc..although, officially, the Remote Viewing program was shut down after during scandals of the Reagan era..guess i'll start a thread as i'm in a rambling mood..Smile
Quote:
This is a straightforward history of government interest in remote viewing, a paranormal experiment that the CIA began at the Standard Research Institute in 1972. Military intelligence started their own team at Fort Meade in 1977. Each program involved only a handful of people. When the CIA lost interest, a couple of generals (Edmund R. Thompson and Albert N. Stubblebine), congressmen (Claiborne Pell and Charlie Rose), and a powerful Senate staffer (Richard D'Amato) kept it alive under the Pentagon budget. It ran out of steam due to its own eccentricities, its enemies within the budgetary process, and the Republican victory in 1994.
Remote viewing is neither fraudulent nor silly, but on rare occasions it can lean toward either. More often it is just plain wrong, or distorted by subjective interference. The brass kept worrying about the "giggle factor" should the secret programs be discovered by the press. Stubblebine earned the nickname "General Spoonbender," and his power at the Pentagon soon declined. The remote viewers themselves had unconventional ideas: several were Scientologists, others were into UFO lore, and most took themselves too seriously. The burnout rate was high. It's just as well. When all is said and done, everyone benefits if our ethically-challenged spooks have really given up on this creepy, unpredictable phenomenon.

..just thought, with your background, good to know about the 'visionary' aspects of the military..

i really commend you for this attitude, at your age and all..you are a bright one..

if i could talk to the 'men in charge' of this world i would say, on this issue of integrating a therapeutic tool like dmt into culture: Let's work together, and discuss. Come to the table. Somewhere in there enough of us agree on enough things. We move into an era where the elders of the 60s and 70s can help advise this. It's something we've had taken away from most of us for near 2000 years..

..the forefathers of America believed not in 'standing armies'..
many peaceful citizens seek the liberation of consciousness tools..we are an evolving species..and such citizens do not constitute an 'enemy' that justifies a standing army (the DEA etc) raised against them..

we can Love our differences and find a middle ground..

that an individual like you exists uftusaf123 here now to communicate with us gives me great hope..Smile

Parshvik Chintan, Sad, Isn't it...

nen888, I would like to think as humans, we have evolved past the "war" stage. I do believe we are beginning to turn over a new leaf though.. On the topic of legalizing dmt and ending the war on other drugs, that might take some time. The problem isnt the government doing it, its the mass media that is OK with them doing it. They have been "brainwashed" by movies and rap songs etc., to believe that the Drug culture is about killing and addiction. It will take some time for the american people to remove that blindfold, sadly. What I find to be amazing, is that the people that DO DRUGS, are some of the nicest people ever lmao!!, I dont get it!
