Hey all.

At the moment I am not looking to take DMT but i am soaking up information and enjoying the research and discussion's as it comes. But most importantly it leads up to the personal preperation for it. Whether it takes 1 day or 5 years, i want to take this thing seriously.

I know this might sound a long stretch but what avenues are generally a good start to the overall mental/spiritual preperations for it(people, places, philosophies etc)? Is there really some technique or line of thinking/emotions i should be focusing on or removing from myself? Reading is good, but i've learnt well already that no matter how much i read, my knowledge is useless unless its applied to myself. And i've heard the story too many times of the heroic man going in expecting to understand a truth within himself, only to say "Well turns out everything i knew and prepared for was pointless!".

I'm sure it will maybe help me understand a little when i get the chance to take psilocybin but for now, its good to take in what i can. Did any of you guys do a longhaul preperation or just dive straight in?

Hello! & welcome to the forum (: Im new here too, so take everything I say with a grain of salt haha. I'll speak based on my own experiences.

DMT is not really something you can prepare for. Personally, I just jumped right in and went for the mega dose. Not very smart in my opinion. But, of course, Everyone's experiences are different. I would take some time to learn meditation. Learn how to calm yourself down and control your thoughts. Setting is something to take very seriously when experiencing the spice.

Look into some videos of Terrance McKenna, and Alan Watts. Very smart men.

When the time comes once again to visit the DMT realm, I will take the precautions that I learned from my first, not so great, but very educational trip. One thing that I read on here often, is, DMT does not give you the experience you expect, it gives you the one you need. Very true.

The folks here will defiantly be able to help with any questions you have (:

Thanks man. Well I don't feel afraid of it but i don't want to go in naive. I really could do with meditation, i'm always thinking about it but put it off. Main reason being is 'ok..what should i do? Just sit or focus on something? Is meditation ok in this place.. maybe i should wait for nature...Don't know if i should do it with music or not..candles? etc" And it goes on till i just don't do it. Sounds very silly seeing this in word form lol.

I have been dilligently on Mckenna. At first he never intrigued me but now hes really grown on me, hes the main reason i am now so interested. I haven't heard too much of Watts but he is always in the related videos.

As for setting, would you say DMT is an absolute with sitters for a first timer? I don't think i have read of anyone taking it alone as it seems to be done in a circle and to be honest as of right now, everyone i know who would be keen to take DMT would not be ones trustworthy of a sitter. Every person i would trust with me, i guarantee would not be willing. Its a touchy subject.

I'm probably gonna dive into this meditation thing and make that my goal for now.

The whole goal of meditation is to eliminate all thoughts, and to achieve total silence in yourself. It does take practice. As far as the setting of meditation and DMT. Choose whatever makes you comfortable Smile If you like a little music playing, then play some music. If you want to meditate in a Chuck-E-Cheese play room with a bunch of screaming kids, you can. Don't over think it. It is to be enjoyed!

Good luck Smile

Hello Again Alex101,

The following is all just my personal opinions on the matters you raised above:

Yeah, it really is difficult to truly prepare for DMT. For sure, read, read, read and research. Go through this site and all the sub-fora in depth. Check the trip reports in particular. Also, I would recommend the books "DMT: The Spirit Molecule" by Strassman and PIHKAL & TIHKAL by the Shulgins.

You can get podcasts of classics by such Bard's as McKenna, Watts and more at www.matrixmasters.com.

Also, I cannot recommend meditation enough. Not sure if it's good preparation for a first experience, but it helps me with pre-launch anxiety, sometimes during the trip and after trip integration issues.

Again, just speaking for myself, cultivating an active skillset as well as knowing when to use it of things like acceptance, deeply letting go and surrender. This helps me a lot in DMT hyperspace.

Edit/P.S.: Where are you currently with the panic attack issues? Does it only come with smoking weed. I would recommend making a lot of progress/headway on those issues before considering dosing with DMT.

Also, given that you have never tried a psychedelic before, you may want to try to "warmup" so to speak with something a bit less intense than DMT, such as mushrooms or mescaline. You should be able to find grow information as well as mescaline extraction info in the wiki.
"But even if nothing lasts and everything is lost, there is still the intrinsic value of the moment. The present moment, ultimately, is more than enough, a gift of grace and unfathomable value, which our friend and lover death paints in stark relief."

Thank you for all the tips and links, appreciate it.

Well i haven't smoked it in about 2 years now, every now and then i might get one of the old feelings back for a few seconds.I have made tonnes of progress since then, these expereiences used to dominate my waking life, now it sometimes can be months and i forget about it. Its my thinking that will bring it on(uncomfortability in my body). I'm starting to address this thing positively when it comes(it has been popping up more, maybe due to challenging my inner beliefs)as i pretty much want the fear gone. It is worth noting i have always had pleasant experiences on other substances. I did on pott but very rarely, in settings that were definitely more pleasant then i was usually accustomed too.

I will be taking a lighter substance first of course, and at low dose. Yeah I don't know about Mescaline, i will give that a look.
