DPCPX has been shown to "supress head shakes induced by a serotonergic hallucinogen" meaning it can help one respond better to Tryptamines and MDMA...

It is also a PDE4 inhibitor, same as Rolipram, a hot nootropic.

So a particularly nootropic caffeine derivative that enhaches the effects of a trip? Intersting...

Found it looking through the Andenosine receptor wiki for antagonists (such as caffeine):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adenosine_receptor

Then I came across DPCPX and found this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/...tyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine

Quote:
8-Cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine (DPCPX, PD-116,94Cool is a drug which acts as a potent and selective antagonist for the adenosine A1 receptor.[1][2] It has high selectivity for A1 over other adenosine receptor subtypes, but as with other xanthine derivatives DPCPX also acts as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, and is almost as potent as rolipram at inhibiting PDE4.[3] It has been used to study the function of the adenosine A1 receptor in animals,[4][5] which has been found to be involved in several important functions such as regulation of breathing[6] and activity in various regions of the brain,[7][8] and DPCPX has also been shown to produce behavioural effects such as increasing the hallucinogen-appropriate responding produced by the 5-HT2A agonist DOI,[9] and the dopamine release induced by MDMA,[10] as well as having interactions with a range of anticonvulsant drugs.[11][12]

Most likely, there is a similar compound called CPX that has propyl groups attached to the benzene ring instead of the methyl group, and it is documented to have stimulant activity.

A while ago I would have jumped at the chance to try some of this, but I wouldn't want to try this nowadays without a toxicity report on at least animal models and preferably humans with a similar genome (right down to the methylation Razz).

Are you sure about that Cosmiclion? I think head shakes/ head twiches is a measurement of hallucinogenic activity in animals, if something supresses it it could well supress their other behavioral effects as well - meaning that it could block a psychedelic's action.

I think the paper says that the agonists tend to supress head shakes, while antagonists (like the compound presented here) actually increase them, increasing hallucinogenic action.
