Smile and it's not the only one.. It wouldn't be a proper homage to DMT without having a bunch of hidden easter eggs. The flashy graphics are just a distraction...

I found another one, subtle and nicely done. Thanx deadaloops. Razz

This is the pallet I'm using so it will have this same color scheme most of the time I spent on this was mixing color and I saved the paint so the facecape will go much quicker

Looking forward to seeing your progress Toka...

If I could make one last request Daeda...

I see how you have each artist's name next to their piece. Would it be possible so when you click on the name, the full size image displays so that visitors can enjoy the details of the piece?
Convert a melodic element into a rhythmic element...

One way to handle that would be to link to each of our galleries from our names, perhaps directly to that image.

Well currently they're hidden unless you take the background to an photoediting program and adjust the levels (or maybe they're visible at certain angles on some laptop screens I dunno), so the linking would only make sense if I made them totally visible for everyone. And that would kind of break the immersion of the piece I think.

I do like the idea however that people would somehow easily be able to see the fullsize artworks.. Maybe like someone suggested earlier that when you click on the link, it goes to the new section and then there will be a thumbnail to see the full artwork. Altho that wouldn't work for Orion's piece since it links directly to the forum... Hmm, but I guess anyone who would be interested in seeing the artworks would naturally click the "ART" and so maybe in the new art galleries there could be a seperate gallery for the frontpage artworks so that it would be easy to find? (they would still also be on your personal gallery pages)

If anyones got any better ideas let me know.

(Tokapelli your post reads like you were supposed to upload something but I don't see any attachments.. maybe try again?)

You're right Daeda. I think having a gallery just for the front page works would be the best bet.

If your phone isn't cooperating I would email it to yourself and then uploaded once you have access to a computer.

WEll that's good to hear, let's just hope we can finish this thing before the world ends... Smile ........... Neutral

Meanwhile , I wanted to comment on the music suggestion as I've gotten a few pm's about it so thought I would ask more about it here. I think as a general unspoken rule websites shouldn't have music playing without the consent of the visitor, as it might start blasting out of the speakers at max volume and give the visitor a heart attack or something.. But I guess one way it would work is if the music defaulted to a very low volume level and had a very smooth fade in.

Also I think Art's suggestion about having different songs playing on the mouseover of each link was interesting.. But it would be kind of a waste to put whole songs in them as the average mouseover time is something like a few seconds, so instead of songs they could have like 10sec looping audioclips with themes fitting to the links. Like tokapellis facescape having calm sea and wind sounds with a wind chime, orions entities having some alien language whispering, cyb's book having some page-shifting library sounds with a low choir in the background, melcats links having some deep space resonance sounds, etc, etc..

So if we could find someone who can do that kind of sound engineering, that would be really cool I think. I understand some people might feel having any sounds/music will be too much, and I kinda agree but I also think it could be made to work with the right kind of stuff. Any more opinions about this?

That's a great suggestion Daeda...one for the future...the loops could even be shorter. How many people are going to hang around the front page playing the mouseover tunes for more than a few seconds before heading into the site?
It would add an extra dimension to an already unique page.
But let's get the thing up and running first and sort out the sound later...like you say...we only have a week to preview it before the rapture arrives...Wink

As fun as the idea of sound could be for us to play with, the truth is i find it annoying on websites. Im never not listening to music, and if sound comes on i click something quickly to stop the sound clash

Having sounds or music with the front page is not something we should do. It is nice for the ones who created it but not for the average person who uses it.

A computer (or tablet, smartphone, etc) is often used for other things too while showing a webpage, one of the most used other things is playing music. When a webpage makes a sound of it's own then that will casue an unwanted interruption and might urge the user to quickly click that page away, not something we want.

Kind regards,

The Traveler

I had the same idea and comunicated this with the administrator Smile . The point of the music should be to blend with the front page, not stand off and blast the speakers. I think the music should be beatless atmospheric to some degree with occasional pulses of sounds, noises and such, something that would be close in representing the visual geometric weirdness of movement and colors but translated in sound vibrations.

My idea was to implement short sound clips (45 sec- minute and half) with themes as described above and there should be obviously some fading in and the sounds should be low to moderate in level.(If its no trouble than a simple mute option can be maybe implemented ?)

I would gladly help with this as it is pretty much what i do every day these days. I have hardware units so i can synthesize the sounds myself, which is far superior to any sound library imo.

I agree with Trav and others that the sound might send some people away, which we really don't want.

I do think that the sound would add a unique dimension onto the piece if done properly.

I believe the middle ground would be for the sound to be muted by default, but have some sort of control where the curious user could enable sound and enjoy the extra richness of the experience.

^^ or the short noise/sound would play just once at low level and stop...just an aural queue to compliment the visual.
kikkers' nose could be the mute/play buttonWink

I understand, and it was just an idea i wanted to throw in. Honestly i didn't thought of that aspect, that someone can be driven away from the web page just because there is some sound playing, especially if they wanted the information.Too much subjective thinking i know..

Anyway i wanted to applaud everyone involved in the project.I see real devotion Smile Its looking great.

I can still attach some audio clips of what i had in mind, if there is interest..
