It's that time of year. What kind of presents would you get for a practitioner of meditation (or someone who is looking to get into it more) and that is not ironic Laughing ?

How about a meditation cushion? They're incredibly useful and definitely help with maintaining a good posture while sitting.

^^Seconded! I wish someone would buy me a meditation cushion, I've been getting by on folded beach towels and pillows for a long time now. Laughing

Let's see, some other ideas are:

-Some kind of a bell for meditation. . . sound is an amazing thing to play with while sitting.

-A really nice blindfold and maybe a pair of noise cancelling ear muffs.

-Perhaps some nag champa incense. Depends on the meditator though, I know some people don't go for incense at all. Personally, I love it, even if I don't often use it.

All great suggestions so far.

How about some sort of comfortable and cool meditation outfit? Not sure what this would be exactly, but something loose and light. When I mediate I like having very little tightness or bunching of my clothing, otherwise it's very distracting/uncomfortable.

I further second the zafu suggestion! It would probably be a very safe (and useful!) bet. And I know I always wanted one of them kinhin bells, so if the person you are giving this gift to already has a cushion...

I'm not too sure about the earmuffs, but I guess that's a matter of taste. Have you considered some high-quality japanese incense for meditation, and perhaps an incense bowl? Shoyeido and Baieido springs to mind... Smile

Word. Another cool thing would be a huge chunk of quartz crystal. You can get very large pieces for less than 20 bucks. They look cool, and are purported to have a cleansing effect as well as a good aid to meditation.

I often bring mine out and concentrate on it if I'm having a tough time whilst on a trip.

The better question is what gifts are you getting for moderators?

Singing bowls are great for meditation its like a bell that resonates a tone as long as you keep it going by brushing a stick around the edge.
In the province of the mind what one believes to be true, either is true or becomes true within certain limits. These limits are to be found experimentally and experientially. When so found these limits turn out to be further beliefs to be transcended. In the province of the mind there are no limits. However, in the province of the body there are definite limits not to be transcended.-J.C. Lilly

The meditator who I'm looking to gift already has some orgonite I gave them, so I feel it wouldn't be all too creative. It was a good jumping off idea though, and so I went with this rainbowed chakra pyramid.

All the ideas were great ones. It makes me realize how much I would like to get a lot of these things for myself, but that will have to wait Rolling eyes

A tub of one of those superfood powders: good health is the best of meditations.

An EEG headset such as the EMotiv or Neurosky MindWave. They come with meditation apps so you can pretty much see your state of mind graphed out in front of you. Hell, get one for yourself!
