If not, I highly recommend it. I did a search on this topic and was surprised to see this hasn't been discussed much before. this is the only thread i've seen on this topic.

but anyways, i find that the oils highly influence the trip and take the edge off of the anxiety. This is subjective, but i find that i can literally feel the therapeutic effects of these oils while tripping (on dmt).

I suggest some of you give it a try, it's very fun.
I personally enjoy a sandalwood + lavender combo or a patchouli + lavender combo.

have a good day/night!

p.s. you can get these oils at a local coop/natural food store. watch out for fake/synthetic oils. make sure it says the botanical name of the plant on the bottle. Example: indian sandalwood essential oil, botanical name: santalum album

Live plants. Sustainable, ethically sourced, native American owned.

hey yes i do!!
I like rosemary because it stimulates the mind and memory, and i have a memory blend i use with a mix of basil, rosemary, peppermint, thyme and petitgrain essential oils. I usually burn them in an oil burner and apply them to my person befor blasting off. I also really try to burn sage or anything with sage as i feel it invites a loving motherly spirit (perhaps mother sage)

I was going to try a little experiment myself with a couple different oils. I have yet to try anything other than cinnamon, but I really enjoy cinnamon smell so it seemed to put me in a good space and I had wonderful experiences using it. I will get around to trying peppermint and elemi soon Very happy

infinite_ember: you're very welcome for the link, i'm happy you enjoyed it Smile

i used to love the smell of cinnamon, but a friend had me do the "cinnamon challenge" a few days ago and i puked my guts out Laughing i would love to try some stimulating oils such as peppermint and eucalyptus and see how it affects the experience. I've always stuck to calming oils such as spikenard, clary sage and lavender because i usually get pre-trip anxiety.

ancient realms, thanks for the advice on those oils. do you find you are able to recall the experience better when using this combo?

Scent reaches to a very deep and primal place in the mind.

I was sleeping on a friend's couch when he lit some Orange Blossom incense. I never really gave it much thought before that, but I pretty much always awake as a stimulus of either light or sound - birds, alarm clock, sunrise, etc... I'm sure most of us do. This time the first thing into my consciousness was smell, this rich earthy orange smell. I can smell it now just thinking about it. I can't really put it into words. It was just a massive rebalancing of my perceptions as I awoke and one of the most mind altering non drug experiences I have ever had. Thumbs up

Which dance before me like a million eyes,
They call me on and on...

I don't know if anyone's tried this, but how about developing a blend you could use that would create an 'link' to the DMT space?

Given that smell is one of the most powerful routes to memory, I'd imagine it'd be possible to create an olfactory trigger which could make recall of these experiences more accessible. It would probably require a process, a ritual of sorts, to set up those associations between the scent and the experience but something as simple as, as someone mentioned above, using an oil burner in each session would suffice. To have your blend permeate the room both before take-off and then afterwards, especially if it's repeated consistently and over a period of time, will set those triggers up and allow you to use them to orientate the mind towards that way of experiencing again.

Anyone tried this or have any thoughts on it?

I highly recommend Palo Santo.

It comes in little wood incense sticks or an essential oil.

It seems to be very grounding.

Interesting, never used oils during a dmt trip. Incense sticks, always. Tiger Balm (red) on my chest (following spine) during lsd trips seemed to increase energy flow through solar plexus. Used it constantly, but never tried it during dmt trip, will try it next time and report impressions here Smile .

Kind of tangential, but...

Has anyone who has a hard time with the taste/smell of DMT ever tried using some essential oil (maybe peppermint or lemon or the other strong ones) orally or on their lip/under their nose to mask the taste/scent of the DMT?

Wonderful idea, will try it for sure next time I allow the spice to reach my brain !

SnozzleBerry, I truly LOVE the smell of DMT, every time I smell it I'm so happy and it reminds me of the fractal world. The best is in festivals, when one can know where the flesh of god is smoked, just walking around searching for that lovely plastic kindof smell . . .

This is an interesting idea. The only essential oil I have is patchouli, so I'll use that next time before I journey. I know many don't like the smell, but I do. It also gives a nice "grounded" feeling and it's nice and soothing/relaxing. Should make a good preperation, probably ridding of any anxiety that tends to happen beforehand.

I vaped mint oil with dmt.

Bad idea! It was incredibly strong. It was like inhaling mouthwash.

I coughed an coughed and almost puked.

^ I don't think he meant to actually mix the essential oil in with the dmt. More like, apply the oil on yourself before vaping Razz Essential oils are pretty strong, I can't imagine inhaling that directly with heat applied lol

" I truly LOVE the smell of DMT, every time I smell it I'm so happy and it reminds me of the fractal world. "

I truly have to agree with what Bucephalus is saying. its like out of all the smells that is the uplink,
certain times when coming down from a good dose of the spice , when everything is slowly lifting layer by layer out of reach and you don;;t have pen but you just exult in exactsy and try to remember, in freedom of not having to bring a pen into this situation.

Those are the times it might be great to introduce scent.

theres a talk somewhere by jonathan steele where he mentions something like the different layers of understanding or memory that you can obtain on psychedelics,
and how the more sober you become the harder it is to remember or acess these states you are in or are trying to remember more of.

theres a bock in there..

what to do..

wait because wouldn't you want to instead of overloading your senses with things to remember from the beginning , continue backwards from th end? and work your way back..

have to work on this more,
has anyone tried this?
