Noman's TEK says use distilled water. Is this important and why so? SWIM uses tap water, and can't think of a reason why this is not sufficient compared to distilled water.

Ask your local water board for a list of the metals and contaminants left in your supply after treatment...you will probably never drink it raw again...Surprised

As for xtractions...its just cleaner and less chance of a 'reaction' from contaminants...

A lot of the teks are old... There really is one best of all solid way to do an STB, and it has not been written as a tek, which is a bummer. Look at the supposed yields from that tek also, they are pretty low compared to how much we are accustomed to yielding these days.

it's not.

any minerals in water will remain in water, not migrate to the nonpolar solvent.
if you happen to get residual water in the NPS, dry it over magnesium sulfate (epsom salts).

Well i haven't created anything revolutionary, but there is quite a bit of info and slight variations which make an STB that much more in depth and reliable. Maybe they should all be in one place?

Hmmmm... maybe I should write it up.

exactly - not to mention that any plant material you'll try to extract with distilled water will be by default enriched by all these trace metals naturally found in plants (as well as tap water)

If you can drink your tap water then it's more than good for extractions.
