Smile Well, I am here really because I am on a never ending search for "God", and I use that term very loosely, "God" meaning the prime mover of existence, consciousness, etc. or whatever it is you have have become comfortable referring to this idea. I have grown up catholic, but have long since abandoned the dogma of it all. I began my journey first obviously questioning my spiritual upbringing, but then began learning about Buddhism. From there I eventually became part of the Islamic faith, but of course learned what the faith is really about, which is very much contrary to what the mainstream perception "thinks" it is, from their I found the Bahai faith which is very interesting. They believe all religions are the same and all come from one source. I wasn't crazy after all...LOL!! But there is always this lingering problem for me when spirituality is institutionalized in any way. So from there the only place to go is to quantum physics, and then to first hand knowledge of spiritual experience and that is of people who have claimed to experience the other side close to physical expiration. And this is currently where I am on my journey. Funny though, it was the many experiences with substances that propelled me on journey through the various forms of faith. So now with what I feel is the final frontier of consciousness, if any of it is ever final...: ), I find myself hoping one day to find a way to experience DMT and expand my own perceptive abilities and become more deeply in love with the universe, because that is what most say when they come back from the other side, that love is what makes the universe go. Hope to meet some amazing people here. Spread the love.

Welcome to the Nexus tranceman. You sound like you have a healthy curiosity regarding spirituality and religion. This Bahai faith sounds interesting.

Though I now prefer solid evidence and science over religion (though still having an interest in it) DMT still makes me feel like the essence of existence is something which I can only describe as pure supercharged love itself. Despite everything, I just can't help it, that is one of the reasons the molecule so fascinating to me. But there is so much more to it than that, as you are possibly about to find out. I wish you all the best on your path of discovery!

Hey Tranceman, welcome to the Nexus!

Looking for a "prime mover" of consciousness or awareness reveals that 'it' is not an independently existing substratum or base from which phenomena arise. Awareness has neither beginning nor end since it lies beyond all opposites and cannot be located apart from its experiencing, no matter where you look or how you look you will not find it as a 'thing' which exists independent from what is happening right now.

The Bahai faith is exactly what it says: A faith. Faith can only take you so far, awakening is found in the direct experience of reality and not through deep-seated beliefs in some omnipotent creator or prime mover. If you find the overall framework of Bahaiism to be helpful to you and if it allows you to live a more positive, productive life then that's fantastic, but remember that it's only a framework, a conceptual model for describing the changeless change of experience.

Good luck in your adventures!

Hi tranceman,

Welcome to the Nexus. That was a fascinating introduction essay - thank you so much for sharing it. I also remember seeing you in chat briefly and want to let you know you are more than welcome to return.

I don't know that you will find what you seek, but I'm not sure if the finding (rather than seeking) is where the value is in your quest. I do know that I am of the very strong personal opinion that consuming psychedelic substances can put one much closer to God, source, whatever, by giving one direct experience. This is so much more effective than going to a place decorated in a holy manner and/or listening to a man 2000 years removed from direct experience lecture on what you are supposed to do and not do, believe and not believe, etc. The direct experience speaks directly without language, without lecture. It is undeniable. It just IS.

I encourage you to take a good look around this place and start participating - I know I for one look forward to your future posts.

I wish you the best in your quest and hope you will keep us updated.

Again, a warm welcome to you, Very happy.
