So I would reccomend that you protect your MHRB from the two things that is known to degrade the precious spice that lies within. Keep it out of the light and dont expose it to oxygen. I dont know if it helps, but I would suggest keeping it in a cool place also.
IMO ideal storage situation would be in a dark freezer in an air tight container.
That said, I must admit I have stored bark in an unsealed plastic bag in a room temp dark closet for a couple of years with no degredation of quality what so ever.
If you have good MHRB, you should consider yourself very lucky. You should take good care of your bark. If it does go bad from shitty storage practices you wont replace it very easy or very cheaply, if at all.
