I've been a smoker for almost a decade. It really wears on you once you reach your 20s. I've quit three times and don't mind the challenge, staying quit seems to be the issue.

Recently I moved from FL to MT and if I get anything out of displacing myself once again I will once and for all conquer this dragon.
The plan is to switch to an herbal smoking blend I've grown myself, including Mullein, Skullcap, and Lobelia. Ultimately my hopes are that the winter here will prevent me from going outside to smoke. Goldenseal and Oregon Grape Root tea will expedite the withdrawal period.

Smoking is ineffective, it has no argument. Smokers practice a form of self destruction whether you are conscious of it or not- it just doesn't mesh with the theme we all live by.

I waas brought up in a family where only my father would smoke cigars occassionally and I thought my mother never smoked, until on one new year's eve I saw my mother smoking a cigarette with her friends and I was traumatised. I was about 10 years old. I never touched a cigarette and told myself I never would. I have in the past years taken a couple of puffs, but purely out of curiosity and I totally hate them. Why would people spend fortunes on something that is so devastating for your health and finances? I just don't understand. I do, when smoking marijuana/hasj, add a bit of cigarette tobacco, but purely because it is less stoning that way (also why I prefer MJ over hasj, as I need less tobacco). I never buy these cigarettes myself though. I would probably be the last person on Earth to buy a pack of cigarettes!

I've always found the habituation potential fairly meager. Not to mention once cessation of its use after a prolonged period, the withdrawal is mild compared to other compounds. So in my experience, I don't at all consider cigarette tobacco to be much of a problem. I smoke every now and then because I enjoy its effects.

I don't think cigarettes should be cast in the same toxic pool as tobacco. While yes, cigarettes do pose many health hazards across the board, the same hazards are not necessarily seen with ingesting tobacco leaf on its own.

Nicotine is quite a compound. There's a great many tribes in South America who revere its use as a sacrament. Two tribes that I'm aware of actually take it rectally. Preparing a nasal solution of isolated nicotine also has wonderful euphoric properties. Sensitivity is a big issue though, and you must be careful on the dose with pure nicotine.

I think it´s besides GHB/GBL the most addicting substance known to me. While it gives you no bodily dependance, there still is always a struggle if you try to stop smoking. So even after not smoking for half a year chances are one falls back to smoking again. Like they say it´s with H.

I don´t really understand why it´s so hard to stay off. Smoking once in a while gives you a nice little rush. Smoking daily does nothing for you, except poisoning your body.

Maybe it has besides the chemical effects something to do with the Cigarette standing as a symbol for something. I know, this was the theorie they used to get women to smoke some decades ago. Pretty successfull.
