No I don't, I was just kidding! Wut?

ehhh ok then whatever, actually think you did have a point. Always thought when people said this forum is elitist they were wrong now im not so sure I mean elitism, thats progressive. Rolling eyes

If it is of any condolences, i think you are one of the old guard and i hope you'll come here more often Smile Actually, you're in fact one of the longest standing nexian since you joined in early 2008 ....

Thanks oblighul though you dont have to offer me condolences or anything lol I just dont like it tbh it seems silly. I always liked the fact you didnt have ratings and such on this site, unlike others. I will see someone with 2 posts and listen to them as much as someone with 10000 posts. I dont think a symbol next to someones name shows that they're points are more valid or they know better than someone who doesnt have the symbol. Moderators, yes, chemists yes, newbies ok, but the other one I just dont get it but then who am I? Im a nobody with no symbol next to my name thats who LOL

Maybe it's because you is scottish Pleased lol. I agree with everything you said. It's a silly little heirarchyl system designbed by a numbnut, whoever it was.

Hell naw brother/sister. Everybody on the Nexus is equally superior to each other.

No offence void traveller but how can you be a senior member when you only have 300 odd posts and have been here a little over a year yet theres people here who have been members for 4 years and aren't senior members. Maybe i'm missing something as usual.

VoidTraveller consistently posts quality material here on the Nexus - a big factor in deciding who enters the higer ranks. He also follows the rules established by the community and does what he can to improve the overall discourse here. It is not about quantity, but about quality.

OTOH, DeMenTed, constantly breaking the rules on the forums and in chat will not get a member very far. Being a "Senior Member" does not mean you hold some special power over others but instead shows that this person constantly strives to improve himself and the forum through the quality of posts.

Oh i know ive been a pain in the arse to the nexus at times, i don't want or need a brain next to my name. I was referring to people like infinite1 who started the thread. He's been here for years and every post ive seen of his has been of some quality.

I think he deserves a senior member badge way ahead of void traveller. Just my opinion.

Maybe the moderators should make it possible for those who don't agree with the decorations to simply hide them, so everyone could be happy.

Now I know where I misplaced my brain! It is stuck in here underneath my avatar. Of all the things that I have lost the thing that I miss the most is my mind.
Everything mentioned herein has been deemed by our staff of expert psychiatrists to be the delusional rantings of a madman who has been treated with Thorazine who is hospitalized within the confines of our locked facility. This patient sometimes requires the application of 6 point leather restraints and electrodes at the temples to break his delusions. Therefore, take everything mentioned above with a grain of salt...

Snozz i love Trav as much as the next guy and he knows that but on this system i think he has got it way wrong. It's just very odd to me. It's a complete slap in the face to the people who have been contributing here for years and get no recognition. Not that i or anyone similar is looking for recognition but it certainly looks like an elbow in the eye and seems to devalue older members thousands of posts compared to newer members hundreds of posts.

I don't want one I'm far too stupid to have one anyway, least the lack of one will remind me of this fact! Lol oblighul sent me a nice pm explaining it a bit more which is fair enough. Isn't like it's terribly important or anything just don't like elitism and hierarchies.

The idea of a dunce cap kinda struck me funny... I'd be down for one of those.

To explain it a bit further:

To me there is a difference between a hierarchy that is just there to highlight an artificial difference between people, and a hierarchy that is there to point out the members who have specific qualities and responsibilities so that you can lookup their posts (remember, in the search you can enter the name of the member who's post you want to search through) or contact them in case of an urgent issue.

Furthermore I need a lot of help with several issues involving the DMT-Nexus, the senior members help me with this and are therefor a great asset to the overall quality of the DMT-Nexus. Without the senior members we would not have so many things in place as we have now, and there is still a lot more to come!

And last but not least: The senior members are automatically chat-moderators to keep unwanted activity away from the chat and they have the ability to reset the forum or the chat when there is an error that will not go away, for this I only want completely trusted people at the controls!

So as you see there is quite a lot of responsibility that comes with being a senior member, it's not just an artificial label to promote division.

Kind regards,

The Traveler
