Hello nexus,
It's been a while since my last post, I have been taking a break from spice for the past month or so and I haven't really had time to do anything besides work eat and sleep. But overall my life is decent haha
I enjoy cannabis on a daily basis, but lately I've been trying to limit the amount that I use. I'm trying to get to the point where I am happy with only smoking 1-3 times a day. I've been doing pretty good too, I usually take a couple hits of weed in the morning before I leave for work (if I have enough time). I very rarely smoke on my lunch break but once in a while I take a puff or two from a chillum while I'm on the way to get some food. Then I go home and usually smoke 2-3 more times throughout the night before I go to bed.
Within the last year I have made butane honey oil (BHO) a few times and I was very pleased with it.
A couple of days ago I made 2 batches of some really nice BHO, it smokes great, tastes wonderful and it is very potent.
But I am still working on perfecting making and using BHO, so I have a few questions for the experienced members here...
I made 2 batches of oil very recently, I used the same kind of weed and the same kind of butane both times. The only things I did different between the 2 batches was I used 2 different materials as the filter at the end of my tube, I used a piece of an old t shirt the first time, and I used fabric from a pair of men's underwear the second time haha. The underwear fabric was much thinner and I could see light through it easily when I held it up. The only other thing I did different between the two extractions was I used more heat on the first batch to boil of the butane, the second time I just let it sit for a while to fully evaporate instead of changing out the warm water bath every couple mins.
Both batches yielded quite a bit and are very potent, however they look completely different.
The first batch (the one I used more heat to evap) is really dark and has no bubbles in it whatsoever. The second batch I made (didn't really use heat to evap) is much lighter colored and is very soft and sticky whereas the other darker stuff is very hard (when it's not warm)
I guess I'd just like to know if using heat to boil off the butane is as necessary as some people say it is?
A couple other things I've been thinking about:
Eating BHO,
A friend told me it would work if you take something like a bagel or English muffin or something, spread some butter on it and add some honey oil on top and put it in the toaster oven for a while.
Does this work?
Also, I have been pretty much only smoking oil the last couple days and almost no actual weed, one thing I have noticed is that my throat hurts pretty bad when eating/drinking after I smoke. It's really weird, the smoke isn't really harsh and I don't cough a lot, but it really hurts to swallow food after smoking oil. Anybody have any input here?
