WOW! Cactus is so lovely…. for lack of a better descriptor!
Here's a little overview of my first experience:
What we ingested: 84g of Peruvian Torch chips that looked to me like the outer 1/2 cm of the cactus only (I think that's good)
I powdered it in my trusty coffee grinder - simmered it for several hours in distilled water 3 times. Filtering was a gloppy, messy enterprise done with cheesecloth. The liquid was reduced to 1.5 quarts and left in the fridge for 6 days. Lots of fine plant matter settled out. Poured off the liquid into a pan and reduced (on med heat) to about 9oz of syrup.
Drank the syrup - chased with water. The taste was pretty bad, but not gag-producing for either of us.
I fasted for the 12 hours prior to this only having vegetable juice and coffee.
The come-up seemed to take about an hour to an hour and a half. We drank at 1pm in the afternoon.
I was really amazed at how different it was than the triptamine family. Obviously there are some similarities, but now I understand why people hesitate to get to descriptive about it in comparison to other compounds.
After a pretty groovy peak which wasn't hugely visual but was very very deep we settled into comfy chairs, watched Cosmos with Carl Sagan and that groove on how we fit into the giant picture that is the cosmos became super emotionally intense. It was great.
I really like it. Plan on giving it another go over the holidays. Thanks for your advice. This is truly amazing stuff.
Ah yes, overall, no stomach issues at all. A few standard trippy burps for me, but nothing more than that.
