Well all I know that is if you put this on your social site then it does offer you some degree of protection against data mining. I just thought I would share and see what others thought.

This does nothing to protect your privacy - see this. If you're worried about your anonimity, have a look at the security subforum.

If you want protection, don't use social media. If you want more protection, things like VPNs are a good direction to go in. As was already said, the security subforum isn't a bad place to start.

This statement offers no legal protection.

Law enforcement doesn't need your consent to collect your data, because that would be kind of beside the point. "Sir, would you sign here to agree that we can monitor your internet connection because we're building a case against you for drug manufacture". They don't have to tell you squat until the moment they kick in your front door to bust your ass. And after they have arrested you you should keep your mouth shut and answer all questions with "I can't remember" or "I don't know"(except those needed to keep you alive).

Plus you've already made it public Wink

If you look at what you actually agree to when you "sign" the terms of use on social media sites, you might be shocked.

Sad I guess the devil is in the details. They hold the right to change the terms and conditions at anytime. Sad

Thanks for the snopes link.

But hey snozzleberry. I just had a thought. Since a social site can be used by anybody then would it not be inadmissible in court seeing as how I could log on to someones account and incriminate them in order to set them up? Just wondering.

It is false to say 'anybody' can use social sites. The ONLY people who can use social sites are the ones who agree to the terms of the site.... and as Snozz mentioned, you should read what you're signing.

You cant prove who posted something on a social account. Anybody can be sitting behind a keyboard on anyone account typing.

Except, between IP/MAC logging, the statistical interaction network created by your friends and a whole host of other things...they kind of can. Let me put it this way...on any social media page where you have enough personal data to make that kind of statement relevant, you have provided enough information to ID you.

Well that is interesting. Not an argument but I just want to say:

If you 1. took the case before a Jury AND 2. you hadn't talked allot then you probably have a good defense. I may be wrong but I have that feeling.

You need to get past your 'feelings' and do some research. Has this kind of defense EVER held in court? Can you cite some case law on this?
