last night, after drinking a jolly rancher drink after a 2 week diet of low sugar, i went to bed. i watched a movie then tried to sleep. i dreamt that i was in a crowd of people running around and freaking out, i was talking to one of them. i woke up and my legs were very sore. i rolled around all night, and as soon as i would try to relax i would be teleported to this place full of people. even when my eyes were open. as soon as i would fully awaken they would go away, but whenever i tried to fall back asleep they came back. i was freaking out due to the fact that i didnt take any drugs and yet still hallucinating. i was worried, and these people kept coming back. finally i turned on the light and it was already 4am. i took my blanket and pillow off the mattress and onto the carpeted floor. i finally fell asleep. im worried about what happened, and i hope it does not happen as i go to bed soon.

if you have any ideas please say. i was possibly exposed to very diluted 2nd hand cannabis/synthetic legal weed smoke, though i did not smoke any myself

You'll probably find a lot of people who would blame the sugar... Refined sugar is actually pretty horrible stuff when taken in large amounts. Especially after a break... At the very least, I could see this causing insomnia.

Those visions sound disquieting. Do you remember the conversation you had, or if there was any mention of the reason everyone was freaking out? I think that dreams are usually pretty random, but you can often pull some obvious subconscious psychology from them that applies to your life.

I think the most striking thing about your experience is how you were continually re-entering the same dreamspace. I am never able to do this, no matter how hard I try. There could have been something very specific about your mental/physical state that was causing these persistent visions.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, but try laying off the sugar again, especially at night. Good luck, I hope you sleep well.

For a second I thought you meant codeine sizzurp when you said jolly rancher drink Laughing . But yeah, ingesting sugar as well as spicy, fatty, or caffeine right before bed, can cause you to have some pretty lucid dreams. Especially with sugar, your insulin levels go up which lowers your blood sugar levels. Your body will basically be in a faux fight-or-flight mode all night leading to nightmares and waking up b/c you can't get into deep sleep or sleep paralysis during REM sleep.

Here's an interesting article: http://www.dailymail.co....hocolate-nightmares.html
